Electrical Engineer – Data Centres at Goodman:

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Data Centre Development team in Melbourne. This role will support the delivery of hyperscale data centre projects, working closely with our Engineering Manager, Delivery Managers, design consultants, contractors, customers and vendors to help deliver reliable, efficient and high-performing electrical infrastructure.

About the role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Data Centres, you will provide technical support across the design, implementation and delivery of electrical systems for data centre projects. You will review design documentation, respond to technical queries, assess submittals, support equipment selection and contribute to the ongoing development of Goodman’s technical standards and reference designs.

This is a hands-on technical role suited to an Electrical Engineer who understands critical infrastructure and can work confidently with consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal project teams to solve problems, manage risk and support successful project delivery.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the design, delivery and optimisation of electrical systems for hyperscale data centre projects.
  • Review technical documentation, RFIs, design packages and technical submittals.
  • Provide input on electrical equipment selection, power distribution, generation systems and energy efficiency measures.
  • Work with consultants, contractors, vendors and suppliers to ensure technical requirements are understood and delivered.
  • Support project teams with technical advice across design reviews, peer reviews, presentations and delivery coordination.
  • Identify risks, issues and opportunities for performance improvement throughout design, delivery and operation.
  • Contribute to Goodman’s Basis of Design, Technical Performance Requirements and reference design documentation.

What we’re looking for

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering and at least five years’ experience in data centre, critical facility or complex infrastructure environments.
  • Strong electrical engineering capability, with experience across power distribution, critical systems and technical design review.
  • Understanding of hyperscale or co-location data centre requirements, including basis of design and technical performance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Victorian electrical codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Confidence reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong judgement, clear communication and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Revit, along with intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
