Build Next-Gen Transportation Logistics Tech: Front-End React Engineer

Are you ready to build high-impact production UIs from scratch using modern React, TypeScript, and AI-augmented tools? Join a modern engineering environment where you will replace a legacy desktop application with a fast, browser-based React experience, shipping functional software directly to energy dispatchers every single week!

About Us: Trimble is a global technology company that connects the physical and digital worlds, transforming the ways work gets done. With relentless innovation in precise positioning, modeling and data analytics, Trimble enables essential industries including construction, geospatial and transportation. Whether it's helping customers build and maintain infrastructure, design and construct buildings, optimize global supply chains or map the world, Trimble is at the forefront, driving productivity and progress.

Trimble Transportation provides the mobility, enterprise, and visibility tools that move freight across North America. Our TMW Suite TMS platform is the backbone of dispatch operations for energy carriers — managing orders, dispatch, tank readings, pricing, and delivery for bulk fuel and petroleum logistics.

Right now, we’re doing something our customers have been waiting for: replacing the legacy Windows desktop application (Suite Dispatch TMS) with a modern, browser-based experience that dispatchers can access from anywhere. This is a greenfield React build, not a reskin. We’re building the next-generation TMW Suite Dispatch UI from scratch, shipping 7 screens in 18 months, and going live with real dispatchers on June 1 2027.

Here’s what you’d be doing day to day: You’ll be embedded in one of four pair-squads (2 developers + 1 embedded generalist), building production React screens that fuel dispatchers will use to run their daily operations. Each squad owns specific screens end-to-end  from data service integration through UI polish and Playwright testing. Every Friday, your squad demos working software to stakeholders. No spec theater, no sprint reviews six weeks from now. Weekly demos, weekly accountability, weekly progress. The architecture is straightforward: your React UI talks to CloudHub (a tenant-routing gateway), which dispatches to a per-tenant OData API, which connects through a CloudHub Connector (CHC) to the customer’s on-prem SQL database. You’re building a fast, reliable, accessible front-end that makes fuel dispatchers more efficient.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Production React Screens: Own screens end-to-end: data service layer, Redux state management, UI components, and Playwright + axe-core tests. Build responsive layouts (1280/1440/1920px) using MUI X DataGrid, Trimble Maps SDK, and the team’s shared design system
  • Update and Enhance the Backend Services: Integrate with the CloudHub/OData/CHC API stack, wire up real data from customer SQL databases through the tenant-routing gateway. Create new services to ensure the new React screens provide the same functionality as the existing Fuel Dispatch on premise application.
  • Ship Working Software Weekly: Demo functional, tested features every Friday - not mockups, not prototypes, not slide decks. Pair with your squad’s embedded generalist on PR reviews, accessibility checks, and test coverage. Maintain CI/CD discipline: main is always deployable, PRs are feature-scoped, weekly tags cut for demos.
  • Solve Real Dispatcher Problems: Build drag-and-drop planning interfaces, real-time map synchronization, threshold-based alerting, and inline validation engines. Optimize for dispatcher workflows: keyboard navigation, WCAG accessibility, loading skeletons, and error states that tell users what went wrong and what to do next. Performance-tune data grids for large datasets with server-side pagination and column virtualization.
  • AI-Augmented Development: Use Cursor and AI coding assistants to accelerate development, generate test scaffolding, and refactor code. Contribute to the team’s shared patterns and component library as the design system evolves.

Our Tech Stack:

  •  the app scaffold React + TypeScript + Vite
  •  sortable, filterable, server-paginated grids MUI X DataGrid
  •  live truck/station pins, route visualization, bidirectional map-grid sync Trimble Maps SDK
  •  shared state across screens (orders, dispatch status, planner sync) Redux Toolkit
  •  E2E and accessibility testing in CI Playwright + axe-core
  •  the API layer (tenant routing → per-tenant OData → on-prem connector → SQL) CloudHub / OData / CHC
  •  authentication via token forwarding Trimble Identity SSO
  •  daily development tooling, not optional Cursor / AI assistants
  •  source control and CI/CD GitHub + GitHub Actions

Your Essential Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years building production React applications with TypeScript — not tutorials, not side projects, production apps that real users depend on
  • Strong component architecture: you think in composable, testable components with clean prop contracts and proper state management
  • Experience with data-heavy UIs: grids, tables, filters, server-side pagination, real-time updates
  • Comfort with REST/OData API integration — you’ve wired up front-ends to real backends and debugged the full request/response chain
  • CSS/styling proficiency: responsive layouts, design system integration, consistent cross-browser rendering
  • Git workflow fluency: trunk-based development, feature branches, clean commit history, PR reviews
  • Ability to work in a pair-squad model — tight collaboration with one other developer and an embedded generalist, shipping weekly

Bonus Points for:

  • Drag-and-drop implementation experience (dnd-kit, react-beautiful-dnd, or similar)
  • Experience with AI coding assistants Cursor in daily development workflows
  • Familiarity with MUI (Material UI) component library and theming
  • Previous experience modernizing legacy desktop applications into browser-based UIs
  • Background in .NET/C# OData APIs (helpful for debugging the API layer)
  • Logistics, transportation, or energy industry domain knowledge  you understand what a dispatcher does and why their screen matters
