About the Role Join us as a Firmware & Electrical Engineering Manager and help build the team behind our products, not just the roadmap. You'll lead a group of Firmware and Electrical Engineers — developing their careers, reviewing designs, and staying close enough to the technical details to unblock hard problems — while setting the technical bar for the hardware that goes into every device we ship.

Where You'll Work This is a hybrid role based out of our Porto office, with an expected average of 3 days per week on-site — reflecting the hands-on nature of leading a team through active builds, bring-up, and EVT/DVT/PVT work.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to the Senior Hardware Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of Firmware and Electrical Engineers, owning both the people and the technical outcomes across active product lines and new development.

Lead and develop the team

  • Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous growth.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations; set clear goals and provide meaningful feedback.

Drive engineering excellence

  • Champion structured engineering workflows and drive process improvements to those workflows.
  • Oversee team contributions to 8D investigations, component lifecycle management, design changes for active product lines, and new product development.
  • Provide technical guidance and support decision-making to ensure high-quality engineering outputs.

Own delivery and coordination

  • Manage team capacity, workload distribution, and resource planning; partner with project managers on schedule, risks, issue tracking, and communication. Serve as project manager for some active projects or sub-initiatives.
  • Coordinate closely within the FW/EE group and with other engineering teams to ensure co-design is tightly coordinated, interfaces are defined, issues are resolved in a timely manner, and full solution design is delivered for EVT/DVT/PVT builds.

What You'll Need to Succeed Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years in electrical engineering, embedded firmware engineering, or combined EE/FW roles — a strong fit for either an existing engineering manager with EE depth, or a seasoned electrical engineer ready to step into formal leadership.
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Leadership experience — formally or informally — across projects or teams, with demonstrated ability to influence outcomes, develop others, drive engineering decisions, and deliver initiatives cross-functionally.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally in fast-paced hardware development cycles (EVT/DVT/PVT).
  • Strong experience with microcontrollers, embedded C/C++, board bring-up, power systems, and debugging tools (oscilloscopes, JTAG, logic analyzers).
  • Experience with embedded firmware development or close collaboration with firmware engineers; sufficient depth to provide meaningful technical direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a team through a full product lifecycle, from NPD through sustaining and end-of-life.
  • Exposure to leading or closely partnering across multiple engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, industrial design, quality, manufacturing test).
  • Experience owning schedule and risk for cross-functional initiatives, beyond your own team's scope.
