Job Summary:
The Project Manager leads the planning and execution of product launches across Royalty Partner and Expansion markets, ensuring alignment with business objectives, market trends, and regulatory requirements. This role manages state-specific product roadmaps and drives the commercialization process from planning through launch, coordinating new product lines, strain releases, seasonal offerings, and boutique products.
Working closely with internal and external partners across R&D, Quality, Marketing, Creative, Sales, Planning, and Operations, the Project Manager aligns timelines, manages cross-functional collaboration, and ensures seamless product execution. This position is responsible for maintaining high-quality standards, improving commercialization efficiency, and fostering a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to project delivery.
The ideal candidate has strong project management experience, expertise with project management tools such as Asana, and familiarity with business processes including Stage-Gate and S&OP. Experience in cannabis, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or similarly regulated industries is preferred. This role is instrumental in bringing innovative, consumer-focused products to market and supporting continued business growth
Duties/Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Plan, manage, and execute New Product projects from scope approval to launch, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Coordinate internal & external cross-functional teams, including R&D, QA, marketing, creative, sales, planning and operations.
- Monitor project progress, provide regular updates to stakeholders, and ensure adherence to deadlines and project scope.
- Identify and mitigate risks that could impact project delivery through Risk Management frameworks.
- Provide regular updates on Project Status & Risks to Leadership & Cross-Functional stakeholders through monthly Project Management Reviews, S&OP, and Executive Monthly meetings.
Process & Workflow Standardization
- Implement & execute standardized workflow processes for product development.
- Utilize project management tools to streamline workflows and improve communication and collaboration, such as Asana
- Review and refine processes to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Cross-Functional Team Leadership
- Work closely with internal & external R&D, QA, marketing, creative, sales, planning and operations to execute product launches approved for Royalty Partner & Expansion Markets.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams for successful product launches.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the new product launch process, collaborating with cross-functional partners to review sources of delays, complexities, and other challenges
- Capture and evaluate learnings from prior launches, aiding in launch "post-mortems" to align improvement efforts with strategic objectives.
Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure all products comply with relevant regulations governing the cannabis industry through Regulatory Affairs practices.
- Work cross-functionally to implement quality assurance processes to guarantee product safety and consistency.
- Stay current with regulatory changes and collaborate with external compliance leaders to ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of project management experience in New Product Commercialization or related roles
- Experience in the cannabis or CPG industries is highly preferred
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of delivering new product launches successfully.
- Knowledge of the cannabis industry, including market dynamics, consumer trends, product specifications and regulatory environment highly preferred
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Asana, MS Project or Trello).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification, or related certifications are a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Capable of repetitive hand and arm motions as well as extended periods of typing.
- Capable of looking at a screen for extended periods or entire shifts.
Work Schedule (Exempt):
This is a full-time, exempt position. The role requires flexibility to work the hours necessary to meet business needs, which may include extended hours, weekends, and holidays. Work schedules and expectations may be adjusted based on operational priorities and organizational demands.
