As a Software Engineer, Network Management you will help build the next generation of software for monitoring, managing, and operating mission-critical defense communication networks. Working closely with architects, system engineers, and fellow software developers, you will design, develop, test, and maintain Network Management solutions that provide network visibility, operational awareness, configuration management, and service management capabilities for demanding customer environments.
Nokia Defense develops secure, resilient, and mission-critical communication solutions for defense and government customers. Our solutions combine advanced radio technologies, secure networking, software platforms, cloud-native architectures, sensing capabilities, and next-generation communications systems to support demanding operational environments. We are looking for recent graduates or professionals with a couple of years experience with curious and collaborative mindset and broad interest in technology. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Network Management software for Nokia Defense solutions.
- Implement features related to network monitoring, fault management, configuration management, and operational awareness.
- Write high-quality, maintainable code using modern software engineering practices and AI-assisted development tools.
- Participate in software design, architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Develop automated tests and support CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Analyze and resolve complex software, networking, and system-level issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and reliable solutions.
- Ensure compliance with Nokia quality, security, and defense requirements.
Qualifications
Must-have:
- BSc. or MSc. degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or Software Engineering
- Experience in software development using C++, Java, Python, or similar technologies.
- Understanding of IP networking, telecommunications systems, or network management concepts.
- Experience working in Linux-based development environments.
- Experience with Network Management Systems (NMS), OSS solutions, or telecommunications management applications.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with good teamwork and communication skills.
- Interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and modern software engineering practices.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
- Valid personal identification document from a NATO-member country.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of 5G, Core Networks, IP networking, routing, switching, or mission-critical communication systems.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies, containers, Kubernetes, or microservice architectures.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, tactical communications, or defense technologies.
- Experience working in agile development environments.
Please note that the candidate needs to pass/have a valid Finnish security clearance check. Additionally, this role is based in Finland and we are not offering international relocation option for this position.
