Lead Business Intelligence & Analytics Architect

Full-Time | Hybrid/Remote

Pay Range: $150,000/year

Position Summary

The Lead Business Intelligence & Analytics Architect will serve as a key technology leader within UBMD's Data and Information organization, reporting to the Chief Data and Information Officer (CDIO). This role will lead data and Analytics technology transformation initiatives, including designing and architecting a modern cloud-based enterprise data warehouse, defining modern data architecture patterns, and establishing enterprise-wide data strategy, governance, and standards to support strategic business and clinical initiatives.

This role will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment. Working closely with clinical, financial, operational, and IT leadership, the Lead Architect will deliver innovative data platforms and analytics capabilities that enable informed, data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain a modern cloud-based enterprise data warehouse architecture supporting clinical, operational, financial, and administrative analytics.

  • Define and maintain enterprise data architecture standards, best practices, and technology roadmaps aligned with organizational goals.

  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture artifacts, including conceptual, logical, and physical data architecture diagrams, technical solution designs, reference architectures, and multi-year technology roadmaps.

  • Own the full data platform lifecycle—from schema design and pipeline architecture to monitoring, performance tuning, administration, and continuous optimization.

  • Design and implement scalable ELT/ETL pipelines, data integration frameworks, and modern data ingestion solutions, including CDC and API-based integrations.

  • Develop and maintain enterprise data models supporting analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making.

  • Establish and promote enterprise data governance, data quality, metadata management, and security standards.

  • Architect solutions leveraging Epic Clarity, Caboodle, and other enterprise healthcare data sources.

  • Partner with clinical, financial, operational, and executive leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities where data and analytics capabilities can improve clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and business performance.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to UBMD's analytics platform and enterprise data ecosystem.

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to developers, analysts, and engineering teams.

  • Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, and aligned with organizational policies, HIPAA requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting enterprise technology initiatives and cross-functional projects as needed.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — Required.

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — Preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic Clarity or Caboodle Certification.

  • Microsoft certification.

  • Experience with similar modern analytics platforms.

  • Knowledge of programming languages and scripting technologies such as Python, .NET, and PowerShell.

  • Experience supporting healthcare analytics initiatives within physician practice or ambulatory care environments.

  • Experience leading enterprise data transformation initiatives within a healthcare organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience designing enterprise healthcare data platforms, cloud-based data warehouses, analytics solutions, or modern data architecture patterns.

  • Extensive experience designing and implementing healthcare data architecture and analytics solutions.

  • Deep expertise with Epic data models, including Clarity and Caboodle.

  • Strong experience with SQL development and performance tuning in large healthcare databases.

  • Hands-on experience developing dashboards and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, or similar business intelligence platforms.

  • Strong understanding of clinical and operational workflows, including Epic EMR, ambulatory workflows, clinical documentation, scheduling, revenue cycle, and healthcare data sets such as ICD-10, CPT, DRG, and claims data.

  • Strong knowledge of ELT, ETL, CDC, APIs, and modern data ingestion techniques.

  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-based enterprise data warehouses or analytics platforms.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, enterprise architecture principles, and data modeling best practices.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and presenting architecture artifacts, including conceptual, logical, and physical architecture diagrams, technical solution documentation, and enterprise technology roadmaps for executive and technical stakeholders.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and systems design skills.

  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and provide technical leadership to IT staff and cross-functional teams.
