The Transportation Business Analyst optimizes logistical operations, freight movements, and supply chain efficiency by analyzing data, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and implementing technology solutions. This role bridges Information Technology, Operations, and Management, driving cost reductions, process improvements, and strategic decision-making in shipping, fleet management, and carrier performance.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze transportation data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Create dashboards and reports for operational and financial metrics, such as fuel consumption, carrier performance, and freight spend.
  • Evaluate and enhance Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other software tools.
  • Map and document current, end-to-end transportation processes.
  • Support business strategies through network optimization, carrier negotiations, and project management.
  • Develop business cases, cost/benefit analyses, and project proposals.
  • Act as the liaison between business units, Information Technology, and external partners, including carriers and vendors.
  • Monitor KPIs and operational metrics, such as on-time delivery, to ensure compliance and quality.

Education & Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field and at least 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations OR a high school diploma/GED and at least 4 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable business insights
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level
  • Knowledge of logistics, transportation modes (truckload, less-than-truckload, ocean, and air), and supply chain principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present findings to management
  • Strong problem-solving skills to resolve operational issues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI

Work Environment

Primarily indoor office environment; noise level is generally quiet. May require sitting for long periods. Regularly requires talking, hearing, seeing, and often reaching with hands. Regularly requires standing and walking. Regularly requires use of a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 and includes benefits such as the following:
