What’s the role?

The Senior Infrastructure Tech Lead (MongoDB) is responsible for leading the design, architecture and optimisation of enterprise MongoDB platforms, providing deep technical expertise across database engineering, security, automation and performance while partnering with stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure and reliable database solutions aligned to business needs.

  • Lead the design, architecture and implementation of enterprise MongoDB solutions, ensuring scalability, resilience and alignment with business requirements
  • Drive database security, compliance and governance practices, ensuring adherence to organisational and industry standards
  • Partner with application teams, architects and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end database solutions and provide expert technical guidance
  • Build and enhance automation capabilities using DevOps tools, improving operational efficiency, deployment consistency and platform reliability
  • Lead database performance tuning, troubleshooting and optimisation activities, acting as the escalation point for complex and critical incidents
  • Create and deliver technical documentation, workshops and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences while mentoring team members and sharing best practices

Additional Information: Flexible working hours may be required to support critical systems and maintenance activities. You'll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team focused on innovation, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What do I need?

  • Deep expertise in MongoDB architecture, design and administration across on-premises (OpenShift) and cloud environments including AWS and Azure
  • Strong knowledge of database security, encryption, auditing and compliance, with the ability to implement and maintain secure database platforms
  • Hands-on experience with automation and DevOps tooling such as Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform and scripting to improve operational efficiency
  • Proven capability in database performance tuning, optimisation, capacity management and resolving complex technical issues in large-scale environments
  • Exposure to complementary database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB and other NoSQL platforms, with a broad understanding of enterprise technology stacks
  • Strong development skills in SQL, Python and Shell scripting, with experience working across end-to-end infrastructure and platform engineering environments
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to mentor teams, manage competing priorities and work effectively within Agile environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence; MongoDB certification highly regarded
