As a Staff Android Engineer, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of mobile experiences across Business Banking. You'll help build intuitive, secure and scalable experiences that support customers throughout their banking journey.

You'll have the opportunity to work with emerging Generative AI and agentic AI capabilities, helping design, build and scale intelligent experiences that improve how customers interact with the bank.

Working closely with engineers, product teams, designers and platform specialists, you'll help deliver experiences used at national scale while influencing architecture, engineering practices and platform excellence across the domain.

We partner closely with the business to solve real-world problems using data and AI-driven insights, resilient platforms and modern engineering practices, delivering customer value at speed and scale.

You'll join a team responsible for customer-facing mobile experiences that help business customers access banking services, financial insights and personalised support through Australia's leading digital banking channels.

Working alongside mobile, cloud, platform and AI engineers, you'll help shape experiences that are intuitive, reliable, accessible and built for the future.

What you'll do

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable, high-performing Android applications and platform capabilities.
• Drive architecture decisions and establish engineering standards across mobile experiences.
• Champion platform excellence across performance, accessibility, security and reliability.
• Guide teams through the full engineering lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment and optimisation.
• Partner with backend, cloud and AI teams to build integrated customer experiences.
• Improve engineering practices, developer experience and platform capabilities.
• Mentor engineers and help grow mobile engineering capability across the organisation.
• Drive operational excellence through monitoring, observability and continuous improvement.

• Strong experience building and scaling native Android applications.
• Proven experience leading technical decisions and influencing engineering outcomes.
• Deep understanding of mobile architecture and software engineering best practices.
• Experience delivering high-quality customer-facing digital experiences.
• A passion for engineering excellence, platform craftsmanship and continuous improvement.
• The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
• Experience mentoring engineers and uplifting technical capability across teams.

Android Engineering

• Kotlin

Mobile Platform Engineering: Secure mobile application development, API integration patterns, Mobile performance optimisation, Accessibility standards and best practices, Modular and feature-based application architectures, Full lifecycle mobile engineering including testing, deployment and production support

Engineering Excellence: Application monitoring and observability, DevSecOps practices, Modern Agile engineering practices
