We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and mentor a high-performing software engineering team while driving technical excellence, product delivery, and engineering productivity. This role combines people leadership with strong technical ownership and offers the opportunity to influence architecture, technology direction, and engineering culture.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong software engineering background, experience managing and scaling engineering teams, and hands-on expertise in developing distributed, microservices-based, and cloud-native applications. You will partner closely with Product, Design, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality software solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• Lead and mentor a team of 5–10 software engineers across one or more product verticals.
- Own end-to-end delivery of large-scale, high-impact software projects.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and cross-functional stakeholders to define and execute product roadmaps.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Participate in hands-on coding and technical problem-solving when required.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality, scalable, secure, and reliable software systems.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, establish goals, provide performance feedback, and support career development.
- Drive engineering excellence through effective development practices, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in architectural decisions and guide teams on technical direction.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and system reliability issues.
- Establish and improve SDLC, Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Contribute to hiring, onboarding, team structuring, and engineering capacity planning.
- Promote the effective use of modern development and GenAI tools to improve engineering productivity.
- Work closely with leadership to identify technical risks, opportunities, and long-term engineering priorities.
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT• 8+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in engineering management or technical leadership.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
- Proven experience designing distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native applications, particularly on AWS.
- Strong understanding of SaaS architecture, scalability, performance optimization, and system reliability.
- Good knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps principles.
- Proven track record of building, mentoring, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
- Experience working in fast-paced product or startup environments.
- Exposure to frontend frameworks such as React is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Databricks, AWS SageMaker, Azure Fabric, Kafka, Spark, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, EMR, AWS Athena, and AWS Glue is a plus.
- Experience using GenAI development tools such as Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, or similar technologies is highly desirable.
- Prior experience scaling engineering teams from startup to mid-sized organizations is preferred.
- Experience in Healthcare, FinTech, or SaaS domains is an advantage.
- Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks such as HITRUST, SOC 2, and GDPR is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
