Manager - Snowflake Data Engineer

• Lead Snowflake-based AI data platform builds across major transformation programs for some of Australia's most complex organisations.

• Tackle big issues like cyber, trust, resilience and digital transformation

• Mentoring, coaching and leadership programs to help you make an impact that matters

Deloitte's AI & Data team is transforming how businesses use cloud-native technologies to solve complex challenges in data, machine learning and AI. We're helping clients design and implement their agentic AI strategies, deliver significant productivity improvements and create enduring business value.

A key tenet of our strategy is to work closely with leading technology partners to help clients achieve their AI ambitions. Deloitte and Snowflake have a market-leading global alliance, and our work supporting clients is growing rapidly.

We are expanding our team with experienced Snowflake Data Engineers who can design, build and operationalise reliable data products and pipelines, contribute to the underlying platform, and enable analytics, machine learning and GenAI solutions on Snowflake.

How this role brings our table-stakes behaviours to life

Five behaviours are now table stakes across the practice - Be Curious, Reuse and Improve, Validate and Elevate, Reinvent Delivery, and Show, Don't Tell - mapping to our four performance pillars: Serving Clients; Leading Self and Others; Investing in the Future; and Managing the Business.

In this role, you bring Serving Clients and Show, Don't Tell to life most visibly: you reframe platform, data engineering and AI conversations around demonstrable value and ensure every proposal and delivery increment carries a bold, outcome-changing idea.

You are measured on the value you create - client outcomes, gross margin and team sales - and you set the standard for how value is articulated, sold and realised.

About the team

Our AI & Data team comprises more than 500 specialist practitioners across Australia, each of whom is constantly curious and excited about combining business acumen and technological expertise to create AI- and data-centric solutions that solve complex problems and transform or reinvent our clients' businesses.

Our AI & Data team works with public and private sector clients, helping them design and implement world-leading solutions and capabilities. From solving air and ground transport network issues through our industry-first Optimal Reality digital twin solution, to bringing automation capabilities to vaccine rollout programs and helping our clients move towards a sustainable world, we are the partner of choice for our clients and alliance vendors.

Our technology relationships with market-leading vendors such as Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Databricks, Snowflake and Informatica enable our practitioners to remain at the forefront of new and emerging capabilities and deliver our suite of services at scale. We are consistently recognised as leaders in Cloud, Data, Analytics and AI, including in the latest analyst reports.

The AI Pioneers, Forward Deployed Engineers and Value & Adoption Leads are virtual teams that sit at the leading edge of this practice, ensuring our work stays AI-powered, our clients see real value and our practitioners stay AI-fluent.

Enough about us, let's talk about you

We are looking for Managers to bring the following capabilities:

  • 5+ years' experience in data architecture, data engineering or cloud data platform delivery, including substantial hands-on experience with Snowflake and at least one major cloud platform.
  • At least one formal Snowflake or relevant cloud certification.
  • Strong experience across at least two of the following:
  • Advanced Snowflake SQL, data modelling and performance optimisation.
  • dbt and SQL-based transformation frameworks.
  • Python and Snowpark development.
  • Batch and streaming ingestion using Snowpipe, Snowpipe Streaming or comparable integration tooling.
  • Data pipeline development using Dynamic Tables, Streams and Tasks.
  • Data engineering for AI and machine learning workloads, including trusted data preparation, feature and vector data pipelines, and integration with Snowflake-native AI services.
  • Application development experience, such as Streamlit in Snowflake or Snowflake Native Apps, is an advantage.
  • Hands-on development experience in AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud.
  • Strong SQL and database skills.
  • Strong grasp of data fundamentals, preferably with experience across databases, data warehouses, data lakes and other enterprise storage solutions.
