Job Description
In this role your primary focus is working with a cross functional team, contributing to our customer facing mobile apps across The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery and Noel Leeming brands.
You will contribute to designing, building and supporting usable, responsive and elegant mobile solutions ensuring the solutions are secure, scalable and maintainable. You’ll collaborate with designers, other developers and a range of people across the business to ensure our Android solutions are best in class.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Provide technical oversight and quality control within a small development team, including code reviews, mentoring, and ensuring consistent engineering standards
- Design and develop high-quality native Android applications
- Collaborate with UX designers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver new features
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy
- Maintain and improve existing applications
- Champion best practices in testing, CI/CD, and documentation
Qualifications
We’re looking for an experienced Android developer experienced in native Android development (Java).
You’ll bring the following traits and skillset to the role.
- Bringing high resiliency, curiosity and ownership
- Communication and Collaboration in facilitating clarity, learning and action, while building synergy across the teams
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Android development in Java and/or Kotlin
- Android Studio
- Experience working with UX designer
- HTTP protocol and the consumption of JSON web services.
- Knowledge of automated testing suites including unit testing, automated UI testing, and static code analysis
- Solid working knowledge of common design patterns (e.g. MVC, MVVM) and when/how to use them.
- Demonstrable experience in architecting and building mobile, efficient application architecture and data models.
- Ability to author technical documentation that can be easily understood by others in the development team
