Burckhardt Compression is seeking a Project Manager to lead large-scale overhaul projects and strategic operational initiatives that directly impact on our customers, business performance, and continued growth.

Responsibilities
Lead Complex Projects
- Lead large-scale overhaul, turnaround, service, and operational projects from initiation through completion.
- Provide overall project governance, accountability, and leadership for project performance and execution excellence.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, risk mitigation strategies, and success metrics.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, technical, and quality requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, internal stakeholders, and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, operational challenges, and customer concerns.
- Drive execution strategies that maximize customer value, project profitability, and business performance.
- Lead cross-functional teams through changing priorities while maintaining commitments related to quality, schedule, cost, and customer expectations.
- Monitor project performance, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Champion project management best practices, governance standards, and operational excellence across the organization.
Drive Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain long-term customer relationships based on trust, responsiveness, and consistent project execution.
- Act as the primary customer advocate, ensuring proactive communication and issue resolution.
- Lead customer meetings, project reviews, executive briefings, contract discussions, and negotiations.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Service, Sales, Finance, and Leadership teams to align execution with business objectives.
- Facilitate decision-making among stakeholders and ensure effective communication throughout project execution.
- Identify opportunities to expand customer relationships through additional services and future project opportunities.
- Foster a customer-focused culture that supports long-term business growth and retention.
Manage Scope, Risk & Financial Performance
- Maintain strict control of project scope through effective change management processes.
- Oversee project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, billing milestones, and resource utilization.
- Manage contract administration activities, claims management, commercial risk mitigation, and compliance requirements.
- Identify risks and opportunities early and implement mitigation, contingency, and recovery plans.
- Partner with Finance and Operations teams to improve project cost visibility, forecasting accuracy, and financial performance.
- Drive accountability for cost control and margin performance across project teams.
- Provide leadership with clear visibility into project health, financial status, risks, and opportunities.
Lead Strategic Business Initiatives
- Manage operational projects such as:
- Facility expansions and upgrades
- District openings, relocations, consolidations, and closures
- Process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Human Resources, HSE, Supply Chain, and senior leadership teams to support business objectives and growth initiatives.
Promote Continuous Improvement
- Implement and champion project management best practices, tools, and methodologies.
- Develop project metrics, dashboards, and reporting processes.
- Improve project execution through lessons learned and process standardization.
- Mentor project teams and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive project management experience leading complex industrial, manufacturing, service, or capital projects.
- Demonstrated success managing large, cross-functional projects with significant customer interaction and business impact.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and quality control.
- Proven ability to influence and lead stakeholders across all organizational levels.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
- Experience with compressors, rotating equipment, industrial services, manufacturing, or energy-related industries.
- Experience leading facility, operational, or organizational transformation projects.
- Knowledge of project controls, contract management, and commercial project execution.
- Experience working within a global or matrixed organization.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification strongly preferred.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
