The impact you’ll make

As a Supplier Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer at Lam, you'll make an impact in ensuring suppliers manufacturing processes and products meet quality standards by designing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance programs. You design methods for inspecting, testing, and evaluating production processes and finished products onsite at our global suppliers’ locations. By analyzing production data, you identify trends and partner with the supplier to resolve technical, quality and production challenges. Your expertise will help develop excellence in supplier product inputs supporting Lam's commitment to delivering high-quality and reliable products.

What you’ll do

  • Group SET is a global organization that innovates in manufacturing technology, materials technology, and supply chain quality for next-generation semiconductor process equipment.
  • This position performs supplier development, program/project management, cross-functional team alignment functions for key initiatives in the Supplier Engineering and Technology (SET).
  • Developing Suppliers to meet Lam quality standards.
  • Drive part development, production qualification, and implement quality plans at suppliers across the global Lam supplier network.
  • Lead product development projects from product prototyping, development, deployment/product release, and initial field support.
  • Independently design and conduct experiments, tests, and prototypes to resolve complex technical problems. Coach and provide guidance to suppliers to implement recommended experiments
  • Present analysis and support technical recommendations clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams (internal and external stakeholders) to guide the specification and development of products.
  • Interfacing with key teams within Lam including technical product groups, account teams and global operations as a representative of SET.
  • Provide technical support for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex product issues.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Organizing and owning internal and external Review Meetings

Who we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Chemistry, or related field with 8+ years of experience; or a Master degree holder/ PhD with 5+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional analytical and experimental design skills.
  • Experience with failure analysis using a diverse toolset of materials characterization techniques (microscopy, thermal and mechanical analysis, spectroscopy, etc.
  • Experience specific to Elastomer or Thermal Interface Material will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking, problem solving, troubleshooting capabilities, and resiliency.
  • Exceptional English communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable traveling up to 25% of the time.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams comprised of internal and external stakeholders in product engineering and design, manufacturing, field support, quality, and supplier engineering.
  • Experience in plastics fabrication and new product introduction including mechanical engineering, roll-to-roll/tape material casting, elastomeric materials and product development, thermal materials characterization, and tool and die production.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and relevant software packages (JMP, Minitab), Gage R&R, and Process Capability Analysis (Cpk/Ppk).
  • Able to quickly distill relevant information to solve problems and identify connections across a matrixed organization. High tolerance for ambiguity is beneficial.
  • Prior product design and technical engineering experience is beneficial.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
