Role Overview 

At SiGMA Group, we are building a brand-new eLearning platform and looking for a skilled and reliable Back-End Engineer to join us at this early and exciting stage. This role involves developing scalable, secure, and high-performing applications, APIs, and data services that support business and user needs. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with a practical understanding of system design, integration, and performance optimization. The platform is built using cloud services, with a strong focus on serverless architecture and managed infrastructure. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain serverless back-end components using Node.js and TypeScript 

• Work with AWS-managed services (e.g., API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, S3) to build scalable and reliable systems 

• Design and optimize databases, data models, and queries for performance and reliability 

• Integrate internal and external systems through APIs, messaging services, and other data exchange mechanisms 

• Write maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to uphold engineering standards 

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production and development issues across back-end services 

• Monitor application performance, reliability, and security, and implement improvements where needed 

• Contribute to architecture discussions, technical design, and continuous improvement of engineering standards 

 

Key Skills and Competencies 

• Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, preferably in a serverless or cloud-native environment 

• Experience with AWS cloud services, particularly AWS Lambda and serverless architectures 

• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs services 

• Strong understanding of relational databases 

• Knowledge of system design, scalability, performance tuning, and secure coding practices 

• Understanding of authentication, authorization, and API security best practices 

• Familiarity with testing practices, including unit, integration, and automated testing 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

• Good communication and collaboration skills 

• Ability to work effectively in agile, cross-functional teams 

 

Preferred Experience 

• BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience 

• 3+ years of proven experience as a Back-End Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role 

• Experience building and maintaining production-grade back-end systems 

• Exposure to distributed systems, high-availability services, and cloud-native architectures is a plus
