Full description

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain event-driven connectors in Kotlin using Quarkus and Apache Camel, following the DSF connector architecture.
  • Own connectors end-to-end, including development, integration testing, deployment, observability, and production support.
  • Integrate third-party and internal APIs using production-grade security, including OAuth/JWT, request signing, mutual TLS (mTLS), and secure secrets management.
  • Implement reliability patterns such as idempotency, retries with backoff, dead-letter handling, message freshness validation, and Kafka consumer group strategies.
  • Develop automated unit and integration tests using QuarkusTest, Testcontainers/Kafka Dev Services, and WireMock.
  • Build and deploy containerised applications using Docker and CI/CD pipelines while supporting Kubernetes deployment configuration.
  • Collaborate with the Plumery engineering team on event catalogue alignment, schema versioning, and messaging standards.
  • Work closely with internal platform, API gateway, monitoring, and operations teams to ensure reliable production services.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, connector specifications, operational runbooks, and support documentation.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in JVM backend engineering with strong Kotlin development experience (or significant Java experience with demonstrable Kotlin delivery).
  • Proven experience working with Apache Kafka in production, including consumer groups, partitioning, offset management, schema handling, and message reliability.
  • Experience using Apache Camel or equivalent integration frameworks such as Spring Integration or MuleSoft.
  • Hands-on experience building services using Quarkus, Spring Boot, or Micronaut.
  • Practical experience implementing API security, including OAuth, JWT, request signing, TLS, truststores, and secure credential management.
  • Experience working with Docker and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Strong automated testing experience, including integration testing against real brokers and mocked external services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating with banking or fintech platforms, including Finacle, Flexcube, NIBSS/NIP, SMS/notification gateways, Plumery, Backbase, or Mambu.
  • Experience administering or deploying applications on Kubernetes.
  • Experience working with Redis for caching or distributed idempotency.
  • Familiarity with Kong or other API gateway platforms.
  • Experience using Datadog or similar observability and monitoring tools.
  • Experience collaborating with vendor engineering teams on multi-country technology programmes.
  • Experience working within regulated industries requiring audit trails, secure handling of personal data, and formal change management processes.
