Your mission

Engitix Therapeutics is a London-based biotechnology company unlocking the extracellular matrix (ECM) as a source of novel therapeutic targets for fibrosis and cancer. Our proprietary platform integrates proteomics, and transcriptomics data on patient tissue samples with rich clinical metadata to identify and validate targets in the tumour microenvironment and fibrotic tissue.    We are seeking a Bioinformatician to join the Data Sciences team, supporting a diverse portfolio of internal and collaborative research programmes. The role will work closely with cross-functional teams across translational and computational biology, with a primary focus on fibrosis and oncology research.    The successful candidate will contribute to the analysis and interpretation of complex multi-dimensional datasets, integrating clinical and molecular data to support research and therapeutic development across the portfolio. Working as part of a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary team, the role will support programmes focused primarily on fibrosis and oncology. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and collaborative, with strong scientific curiosity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to delivering high-quality research.   Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Engitix scientists and external partners to design and implement analytical strategies, deliver biological insights and high quality data visualisations
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to refine scientific questions, communicate analytical approaches and findings, and support decision-making across research programmes
  • Develop, maintain, and optimise scalable and reproducible bioinformatics analysis pipelines
  • Apply and develop analytical approaches for the integration, analysis, and interpretation of complex multi-modal biological and clinical datasets
  • Contribute to computational strategy and best practices in data management, reproducibility, documentation, and FAIR data principles
  • Support bioinformatics activities across a diverse portfolio of fibrosis- and oncology-focused programmes

Your profile

In addition to strong communication, organisational, and time management skills, you will have:

  • A postgraduate degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related quantitative discipline with 3+ years experience working in industry or a demonstrated record of top-tier publications
  • Strong programming and scripting skills in R and Python
  • Previous experience of performing bulk transcriptomics analysis and at least one of:- • Single-cell and/or spatial transcriptomics
  • Molecular imaging and spatial proteomics
  • Multi-omics integration and analysis
  • Strong foundation in statistics and/or machine learning, with experience applying methods such as regression, classification, clustering, dimensionality reduction, and survival analysis
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional research environment
  • Experience supporting translational research programmes in fibrosis or oncology, desirable in IBD
  • Experience collaborating with external partners or working in multidisciplinary project teams

Desirable experience:

  • Experience applying modern AI/ML methods to complex biological or biomedical datasets
  • Familiarity with quantitative proteomics and mass spectrometry-based technologies(e.g. LFQ and TMT)
  • Experience working with cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS) and workflow management systems (e.g. Nextflow)

About us

Engitix is a growing biotech company based in White City Place, West London. We are dedicated to developing better therapies for advanced fibrosis and solid tumours by leveraging our pioneering extracellular matrix (ECM) platform. Our platform allows the synthesis of realistic in vitro 3D models that serve as tools to transform our ability to identify new targets and biomarkers, determine mechanisms of action and more accurately predict the efficacy of therapeutic candidates.

Join us today in our mission to create a healthier future for patients with life-threatening diseases such as fibrosis and cancer.
