About Genius
Genius is the leading destination for music, lyrics, and the stories behind the songs. At the intersection of music, technology, and culture, Genius connects fans with deeper meaning behind the world’s most influential music. Join an exceptionally talented team of engineers, designers, product leaders, and business builders who are shaping the future of music and media. Your Role at Genius
Genius is looking for an energetic and passionate Product Manager to execute and enhance our vision for Genius for Artists, an incredible platform of tools for artists (both on Genius and off) including: verification, analytics, and monetization & growth.
This is a true high impact role; hands-on with real decision-making authority. You'll decide not only what gets built next, but whether an idea belongs in the product at all. You'll work as a peer to design and engineering with shared ownership of what ships, and you'll work directly with artists and their teams to understand what they need from Genius.
As Product Manager of Genius For Artist "GFA", you'll also play a critical role in bringing new music business partnerships to life. Genius works with partners across streaming, distribution, and the broader music industry, and translating those agreements into real products creating value for the industry is a significant opportunity in this position.
Please Note: This role is based in Los Angeles, and candidates will be required to work onsite 3–4 days per week, or as needed, at our Beverly Hills office, located at 131 S. Rodeo Dr., Suite 375, Beverly Hills, CA 90212. Candidates must be located in the Los Angeles area.
What You’ll Do
- Operate as the owner of GFA, shaping and driving the roadmap for Genius for Artists: what we build, what we decline, and why
- Define quarterly OKRs, partner with the extended team to set estimated delivery timelines and maintain a roadmap focused on ROI
- Work in tandem with product designers and engineers and share ownership of what ships when rather than a handoff of requirements
- Partner with business development, community, and marketing teams on GTM launches and expounding upon artist-facing features
- Combine efforts with business development to execute new music business partnerships, translating agreements into shipped product and maintain accountability for Genius product commitments
- Serve as the product SME for partner integrations, including scoping, timelines, and the tradeoffs that come with external dependencies
- Work with verified artists and their teams to understand their needs and turn that into product direction
- Build early prototypes yourself when it's the fastest way to make an idea concrete
- Help execute an initiative to make new releases empower all workstreams at the company
- Help drive AI adoption across the company by sharing what works in your own workflow and helping other teams apply it
- Represent Genius for Artists to company leadership and to external partners
- Drive continuous, quantifiable KPI improvements through feature development, multivariate testing and other forms of optimizations
What We’re Searching For
- 4+ years of product management experience, specifically working with consumer facing products such as digital communities, messaging apps, or other social platforms
- Demonstrated track record of successful, shipped work with defined results while partnering with engineering and design on technical and business tradeoffs
- Strong product judgment and an entrepreneurial mindset capable of scaling exploratory features into seamless, professional-grade user experiences.
- Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information paired with the discipline to revisit them when better data arrives
- Hands-on experience with project management tools (e.g. Linear, Jira, Jira Advanced Roadmaps and Confluence)
- Familiarity with common design/UX patterns
- Strong presence and verbal communication: you can hold a room, disagree productively, and make a decision stick without relying on authority
- Excellent written communication with the ability to convey complex thinking clearly to a broad audience
- Fluency working with modern AI tools in your day-to-day workflow, and a clear-eyed understanding of where they fall short
- Deep interest in music, digital media, and internet culture
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, Data/Analytics, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field required; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Bonus if you have: Experience in data or product analysis and SQL, artist-facing product experience or a background in the music industry, experience with creator-facing or professional tools, or with community-driven products, experience launching products with external partners
The base salary range for this position is $145,000–$160,000 and is determined based on a variety of factors, including experience, education, relevant skills, and industry knowledge.
