An opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Partnership Manager to join the Motorsport & Advanced Engineering department.
About the role
This role supports the successful conversion of strategic opportunities into contracted business across the motorsport, advanced engineering, and defence sectors, with a focus on elite performance electrification technology, energy storage systems, and zero-emission power system components.
Working closely with senior commercial leaders who own key customer relationships and opportunity origination, this role is responsible for identifying leads and driving opportunity execution, including bid development, commercial structuring, pricing, internal stakeholder coordination, and contract negotiation. In addition, the role will also be required to own and maintain ongoing customer relationships and generate additional revenue opportunities from existing accounts in addition to new business.
What will you do
Opportunity Execution & Bid Management
- Lead the end-to-end development of customer proposals, from initial brief through to submission
- Coordinate inputs from engineering, product, finance, legal, and commercial teams
- Ensure proposals are technically credible, commercially competitive, and aligned with customer requirements
- Manage bid timelines, governance, and internal approval processes
Commercial Structuring & Pricing
- Develop pricing models, cost build-ups, and commercial structures in collaboration with finance and technical teams
- Support definition of commercial strategies, including risk allocation and contract positioning
- Ensure alignment with internal financial targets and risk frameworks
Contract Development & Negotiation
- Lead the preparation of commercial terms and contract documentation
- Support and participate in contract negotiations with customers
- Work closely with legal and commercial ops teams to ensure robust and compliant agreements
Internal Coordination
- Act as the central point of coordination across multiple internal stakeholders
- Ensure clear communication between opportunity owners (senior leads) and delivery teams
- Track and manage actions, dependencies, and risks across opportunities
Customer Engagement
- Support senior commercial leads in customer interactions, particularly during bid and negotiation phases
- Pursue new opportunities through active participation in the market (e.g. industry shows, events, outreach)
- Contribute to development of customer-specific value propositions and materials
Pipeline & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of opportunity progress, pipeline status, and forecasts within CRM system
- Provide structured updates on bid performance, risks, and key milestones
Market & Continuous Improvement
- Support market and competitor analysis to strengthen proposal quality
- Contribute to improving bid processes, tools, and commercial frameworks
- Assist in improving existing standardised templates, pricing models, and collateral
About you
- Adequate experience in commercial, bid management, or business development role within tier 1 motorsport, advanced engineering, defence, or high-technology sectors
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex bids or opportunity lifecycles
- Proven track record of developing commercial proposals and closing contracts
- Experience in pricing, cost modelling, or commercial structuring
- Experience working in cross-functional technical environments
- Exposure to regulated or defence procurement environments (advantageous)
- Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce is desirable
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Excellent account management and organisational skills
- Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams under tight timelines
- Strong written communication skills, particularly in proposal and contract development
- High attention to detail with ability to manage multiple concurrent opportunities
