Job Description
As an apprentice service engineer, you would work on maintaining and repairing existing fire and security systems. This includes routine servicing, fault finding, troubleshooting, emergency call-outs, and ensuring systems remain compliant and operational.
As an apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to install, maintain and fault-find on the following systems:
- Access Control
- Video Surveillance
- Intruder Alarms
- Fire Alarms
- Perimeter Security Systems
- Remote Monitoring
- Testing and Maintenance
Please be aware - the apprenticeship launch date is November 2026, the job itself would start 2-3 weeks prior to the apprenticeship launch.
Entry Requirements
- Must be 18+ due to certain site requirements, please only apply if you are 18 or older
- Must hold a valid UK driving license due to travel requirements of the role
- Basic practical electric or engineering skills would be a bonus
- A solid understanding of basic IT
- Reliable, good time keeping and an effective team player
- Work/site based experience would be highly desirable
- Maths and English at Grade 4 GCSE (or equivalent)
Training to be Provided

Your apprenticeship training is delivered by Skills for Security, specialists in fire and security training.
You’ll train through block release at our Watford centre, for one week every eight weeks (Tuesday–Friday).
You’ll work towards a Level 3 Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Technician apprenticeship, gaining real skills and a nationally recognised qualification.
