About Role
As a Product Manager I at Principal, you will be central to delivering valuable and viable solutions alongside our product team for small or simple products. You will play a key role in completing our product strategy by managing the product backlog and promoting effective delivery and coordination within the team. This opportunity offers broad exposure to all stages of the product lifecycle and allows you to make meaningful improvements to our customers' experience.
Essential Functions
Product Discovery (30%)
- Accountable for understanding and defining key business outcomes and requirements for the product.
- Find opportunities or problems to solve and clearly state hypotheses in collaboration with a PM or Senior PM.
- Guide the product team in generating ideas and conducting experiments.
- Complete experiments in collaboration with building, engineering, and various business roles.
- Assess the value of experiments, draw out insights, and share findings with key partners and collaborators.
- Determine which work should be prioritized into the product based on findings.
- Develop or uphold an effective parallel discovery and delivery framework in collaboration with the Product Manager or Senior Product Manager.
Product Delivery (40%)
- Responsible for successful product delivery by working together with technology and non-technology collaborators.
- Partner with team members to address challenges and coordinate dependencies.
- Ensure the product team possesses the essential background to address problems effectively and efficiently.
- Collaborate with the team to frequently release valuable product changes.
- Serve as a product owner for SCRUM teams, working together on story creation, refinement, and prioritization.
- Participate in team/agile ceremonies and ensure effective structure and routines.
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide value with quality.
- Communicate product releases to collaborators and partners.
Product Assessment (10%)
- Collaborate with the Product Manager or Senior Product Manager to ensure measurable progress towards product goals.
- Monitor and communicate product health, impact of product releases, and progress against goals.
- Responsible for assessment practices of the team(s).
- Ensure product outcomes are met and make necessary improvements to the go-to-market strategy or product.
Collaborator Management & Communication (15%)
- Communicate discovery and delivery priorities, results of experiments, and progress to collaborators.
- Support the broader product family or portfolio as a member of the product management team.
- See opportunities to advance the product management practice and continuously improve.
Product Strategy (5%)
- Collaborate with a Product Manager or Senior Product Manager to grasp the product strategy.
- Develop an understanding of product strategy in the context of enterprise and business strategies.
- Complete the strategy as part of a product team.

Qualifications
- 8 to 12 years of overall IT experience with a minimum of 8+ years in end-to-end product management.
- Basic experience in a product environment and exposure to the Product Manager role.
- Experience managing multiple workloads and competing priorities.
- Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and negotiate in a team environment.
- Experience bringing to bear diverse perspectives and data to inform actions.
- Functional understanding of Capital Markets and knowledge of Asset Management business, with domain expertise in areas like Portfolio Management Services, Trading, or Investment Accounting & Performance.
Preferred skills
- Understanding of Front Office and Middle/Back Office operations.
- Knowledge of intermediaries/entities across the Asset Management value chain.
- Examples of Front Office expertise: Investment Research, Risk Analytics, Public/Private Equity and Debt, Portfolio Management, Trading
- Examples of Middle Office expertise: Fund Accounting, Securities & Valuation, Financial Reporting, Investment Accounting & Performance
- Strong-level expertise expected in: Estimation, Jira workflow maintenance, Quality Assurance, Agile metrics, Prioritization & Planning
- Moderate-level expertise expected in: Product vision, KR & Outcomes, Business/Customer understanding, Product mindset, Stakeholder management

This position reports to: Product Manager 2, Product Manager 3, Sr. PM 1, Sr. PM 2, AD of PM, Dir of PM, Sr. Dir of PM.
