JOB TITLE: Analyst, Financial Operations and Projects

POSITION STATUS: Temporary

DEPARTMENT: Finance

LOCATION: Montreal

The Analyst, Financial Operations & Projects supports the Finance function by analyzing financial and operational data, improving processes, supporting system and transformation initiatives, and contributing to cross-functional projects. This role works closely with Finance leaders, operational teams, and system stakeholders to strengthen reporting, controls, efficiency, and decision-making. The Analyst is responsible for preparing analysis, documenting requirements, coordinating project activities, supporting testing and implementation, and helping ensure that financial processes are accurate, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Analyze financial and operational processes to identify improvement opportunities, control gaps, inefficiencies, and automation potential.
  • Prepare financial analysis, reconciliations, reports, and dashboards to support management decision-making and operational performance monitoring.
  • Support finance-related projects, including system implementations, process redesign, workflow optimization, and integration of Finance requirements into business initiatives.
  • Gather, document, and validate business requirements by working with Finance, Operations, IT, Tax, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in project planning, coordination, status tracking, issue resolution, and preparation of project documentation and materials.
  • Support user acceptance testing, data validation, system configuration reviews, and implementation activities for finance systems and process changes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, procedures, control narratives, training materials, and reference guides.
  • Assist with month-end, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities by providing analysis, variance explanations, and operational insights.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve operational issues, improve data quality, and ensure consistent application of finance policies and procedures.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, project milestones, and process metrics, and provide clear recommendations to management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and the overall effectiveness of Finance operations.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in finance operations, financial analysis, project support, business analysis, accounting, or a related function.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, internal controls, reconciliations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational workflows.
  • Experience supporting finance projects, system implementations, process improvements, automation initiatives, or business transformation activities is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, document findings, and develop practical recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems, reporting tools, Power BI, or workflow systems is considered an asset.
  • Ability to document business requirements, processes, controls, procedures, and testing scenarios clearly and accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow through on project deliverables.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Finance, Operations, IT, and cross-functional stakeholders.
