Specialist Applications Development - SRE / DevOps Engineer

Overall Purpose: This career step requires entry/moderate level experience. Responsibilities include the development and testing of application and infrastructure automation software operating in a DevOps model in support of Software Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.  This role supports the DevOps model of Ops shifting left in the software delivery lifecycle by delivering automations early in the lifecycle to ensure that all non-prod and prod environments are aligned with the highest levels of automation.   A component of this role is also focused on application infrastructure design and engineering to enable consistent and novel solutions.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

-             Development and test of application deployment, configuration, and infrastructure automation.

-             Infrastructure design and engineering.

-             Support of the developed software.

-             Execution of System Reliability Engineering (SRE) processes and tools.

-             Knowledge of one or more of the following automation technologies: Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Go, Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, ArgoCD

-             Working knowledge of deploying applications on Azure, Openstack, and/or other clouds (e.g.,, AWS).

Education: Preferred Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math equivalent experience; or equivalent experience.

Experience: Typically requires 6-9 years experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role. Supervisory: No.
