Full description

We are seeking a Test Engineering Manager for our Apopka, Florida office. As the Test Engineering Manager, you will lead and develop Micross Apopka team to devise software routines and hardware solutions to verify that such components meet or exceed their design and reliability criteria. Micross assignments involve sophisticated and unique components – primarily VLSI ASICS, FPGA’s and various RF components. This requires a technical leader that possesses a broad range of software and hardware skills, plus the curiosity and mental ingenuity to think around problems and develop creative solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee engineering departments and develop strategic plans and processes to ensure that departments operate and meet their performance goals in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that department designs the highest quality solutions within defined specifications on time and within budget.
  • Devise a close working partnership with the Company’s CTO
  • Chair test plan development; design reviews and execution of hardware, software, documentation and release to production.
  • Actively coordinate with the Program Management, Assembly and Operations teams in ensuring the delivery of critical programs on time and to budget.
  • Be hands-on with test creation, validation, modifying and redesigning routines and circuits to guarantee component margin to specification.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with a variety of automatic semiconductor test equipment, relevant software languages and the various subsystems contained within.
  • Prepare, analyse and review customer and internal technical reports.
  • Ensure that staffing levels are sufficient. Take a lead role (in conjunction with the GM and HR Manager) in the recruiting, development and retention of engineers, including the development of a formal university intern program.
  • Establish processes to ensure that direct reports and respective employees receive appropriate direction, training, development and motivation, supervision, and appraisal of performance so goals are met in the most productive and effective manner.
  • Foster the culture of teamwork, continuous improvement and support the empowerment of teams.

  • Provide regular and structured feedback to the members of the team to facilitate their technical growth and teamwork skills. Address any performance issues quickly, leveraging the formal review processes as required.
  • Oversee salary and performance appraisal administration; allocate pool and ensure that distribution is equitable
  • Generate annual Research and Development program goals in coordination with Sales, Marketing, and Product Management.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that drive efficient performance.
  • Prepare, monitor, and adhere to annual operating and capital equipment budgets.

Job Qualifications:

  • BSEE /MSEE in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of five (15) years of experience with a demonstrated track-record of managing product design validation, and product qualification teams.
  • Experience within the space satellite and military/aerospace industries.
  • Possess a strong programming aptitude, solid understanding of many digital, linear, mixed-signal, memory, and discrete device parameters, and test methodologies used in their measurement.
  • Experience with the Xilinx FPGA family, FPGA implementations of signal processing algorithms.
  • Experience in C, C++ Programming related to Advantest 93K tester.
  • Experience with FPGA firmware development process is a must; including VHDL code development, simulation, synthesis, timing closure, and FPGA verification.
  • Experience interfacing high speed A/D, D/A and communication interfaces (I2C, Ethernet, SPI, UARTs).
  • Experience with devising and setting up advanced bench-test solutions.
  • Ability to support problem-solving initiatives across the assembly and environmental test areas.
  • Familiarity with current advanced FPGA development tools for signal processing applications (e.g. Xilinx Accel DSP, Simulink, or Altera DSP Builder).
  • Due to export control rules, must be a US citizen or a Green Card Holder.
  • Ability to secure a secret level security clearance.
