Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team and to support the full lifecycle of U.S. Government opportunities and programs—from early customer engagement and proposal development through contracting, project execution, customer adoption, and long-term relationship management. This role will serve as a critical bridge between SS8's Government Sales organization, customers, partners, Engineering, Product Management, Contracts, and other internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate combines strong program management and communication skills with experience supporting government customers, bids and proposals, contracts, and technology-driven programs. Depending on project demands, the role may spend significant periods supporting the sales process but will transition to project / program delivery as their core function and priority when required. This individual does not need to be a telecommunications engineer but must be technically savvy, comfortable learning complex software and technology environments, and capable of translating between technical teams, business stakeholders, and government customers.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Program Execution

  • Lead cross-functional teams responsible for the successful deployment, integration, testing, acceptance, and operationalization of SS8 software and services.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans with clearly defined milestones, responsibilities, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Manage project risks, issues, schedules, resources, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
  • Manage the requirements lifecycle and ensure alignment between customer expectations, contractual commitments, and technical implementation.
  • Coordinate acceptance testing and ensure completion of contractual deliverables and customer acceptance criteria.
  • Manage project scope and support the development and execution of change requests when requirements evolve.
  • Provide regular program status updates to customers and SS8 leadership.
  • Follow established program governance, schedules, responsibilities, communication plans, and internal/customer reporting processes.
  • Track contract deliverables, modifications, funding actions, option periods, and other milestones that may impact program execution.
  • Conduct lessons-learned sessions and track resulting actions in order to incorporate findings into future programs and proposals.

Customer Success & Relationship Management

  • Serve as a primary point of coordination for customers throughout program execution.
  • Maintain regular communication with government stakeholders to ensure visibility into progress, risks, decisions, and upcoming milestones.
  • Work proactively to identify and resolve customer concerns before they impact program success.
  • Help customers understand SS8 capabilities and identify opportunities to increase utilization or apply SS8 technology to additional mission requirements.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to support account planning, follow-on opportunities, contract renewals, and program expansion.
  • Maintain awareness of customer priorities, funding cycles, procurement activities, and organizational changes that may affect the program or broader account.

Contract & Program Transition

  • Support the transition of awarded opportunities from Sales and Capture into formal project / program execution.
  • Review contract requirements, Statements of Work, deliverables, milestones, reporting obligations, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate with Contracts, Finance, Engineering, Product, Sales, and partners to ensure contractual and operational requirements are understood.

Government Opportunity & Customer Support

  • Support Government Sales leadership throughout the opportunity lifecycle, from initial customer engagement through contract award and execution.
  • Assist in preparing customer communications, capability briefs, white papers, presentations, meeting materials, and follow-up actions.
  • Participate in customer discovery sessions to understand mission requirements, operational challenges, technical environments, procurement considerations, and desired outcomes.
  • Maintain continuity between pre-award customer conversations and post-award execution to ensure commitments and requirements are understood and delivered.
  • Develop trusted relationships with government customers, industry partners, integrators, and other program stakeholders.
  • Identify follow-on requirements, expansion opportunities, and emerging customer needs during program execution.

Capture, Bid & Proposal Support

  • Coordinate and support responses to RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, solution briefs, Sources Sought notices, and other government acquisition activities.
  • Manage proposal schedules, compliance matrices, action items, contributors, reviews, and submission requirements.
  • Work with Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Contracts, and partners to translate customer requirements into executable technical and programmatic solutions.
  • Support development and review of Statements of Work, technical approaches, implementation plans, schedules, deliverables, assumptions, and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain reusable proposal content, past performance information, program documentation, and other government business collateral.
  • Help ensure commitments made during the sales and proposal process can be successfully executed following award.

Travel

  • Travel may be required (up to 25-50%)

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong project or program management experience supporting complex technology, software, government, defense, intelligence, law enforcement, or public-sector programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage initiatives across the entire lifecycle—from customer requirements and proposals through contracting, execution, and customer acceptance.
  • Experience supporting government proposals, Statements of Work, technical responses, or acquisition processes strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with government executives, contracting personnel, technical teams, and operational users.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate complex efforts involving multiple internal teams, external partners, and customer stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines, deliverables, dependencies, and competing priorities.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a growing and evolving government business.
  • Strong technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to quickly understand complex software platforms, system architectures, integrations, cloud environments, APIs, networking concepts, and technical dependencies.
  • Ability to translate technical information into clear business, operational, and customer-focused communications.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and general networking or enterprise software concepts preferred.
  • Experience with telecommunications, lawful intelligence, investigative technologies, data analytics, or related environments is beneficial but not required.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Government procurement, contracting processes, contract vehicles, FAR/DFARS environments, or federal program execution is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with law enforcement, defense, intelligence, or national security customers is preferred.

Must have

  • BA/BS degree; technology-related field preferred.
  • 5+ years managing large-scale projects.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance is required; an existing clearance is preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as program and customer requirements dictate.
