ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Business Intelligence Analyst role is an opportunity to shape the future of data and AI across Flight Centre Travel Group by serving as the design authority behind enterprise data models, semantic frameworks, and AI-enabled analytics capabilities. The successful candidate will move beyond traditional reporting to establish trusted foundations that allow business teams to gain insights through natural-language AI platforms. This role works closely with leaders across Finance, Marketing, Pricing, Product, Operations, and Customer Experience to drive consistent, governed decision-making and advance organisational data maturity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and govern conversational analytics capabilities across AI platforms
- Drive adoption and reliability of conversational analytics capabilities across business units
- Facilitate business workshops to improve data literacy and adoption of self-service analytics
- Define and apply quality assurance techniques to validate data integrity and AI-generated outputs
- Maintain accountability for automated decision-making governance and compliance requirements
- Lead strategic discovery sessions with business stakeholders to identify root business challenges and translate requirements into scalable data solutions
- Conduct complex analysis and modelling for new and ambiguous business scenarios where historical patterns may not exist
- Create and maintain enterprise semantic modelling standards, conventions, and reference architectures
- Act as the design authority for dimensional and semantic data models, metric views, and Databricks Genie Spaces
- Review and approve model implementations to ensure alignment with organisational standards and governance requirements
- Resolve conflicting metric definitions across business functions and establish enterprise sources of truth
- Train and oversee AI assistants, embedding business logic, quality controls, and governance frameworks
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and accessible work environment where all Flighties feel welcomed, respected, and supported to thrive
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree qualified in Business, Commerce, or Information Technology
- Experience in travel, retail, or customer-focused industries is highly regarded
- Experience governing conversational or natural-language AI access to enterprise data
- Demonstrated experience applying analytical techniques such as forecasting and predictive analytics
- Postgraduate qualifications in Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Finance are advantageous
- Deep understanding of complex finance, booking, accounting ledger, and ticketing system architectures
- Minimum 2 years' experience in data modelling, business intelligence, or analytics engineering with ownership of model design decisions
- Proven experience in AI data modelling, training, and delivery, including Databricks Genie Spaces, metric views, or similar semantic layers
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Databricks, dimensional modelling, semantic modelling, and data quality assurance practices
