Security Focus: AI Security, API Security, OWASP, MITRE, WAAP and DevOps
Why This Role Matters
Artificial Intelligence is changing the world, but it’s also creating an entirely new landscape of security threats. As a Senior Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) at F5, you won’t just talk about the future of security—you’ll build, break, and demonstrate it.
This is a highly visible, hands-on technical role where you will bridge the gap between advanced engineering and creative storytelling. You will become the go-to technical evangelist for F5’s cutting-edge security portfolio (F5 Distributed Cloud, NGINX, and BIG-IP), specifically focused on securing LLMs, defending agentic AI models, and automating application security (WAAP) directly into modern DevOps pipelines.
If you love writing code, spinning up Kubernetes clusters, deploying AI Guardrails, and then showing the world how you did it through blogs, videos, and interactive tools—this is your playground.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will own the technical narrative for F5’s AI Security and Automation solutions:
- Build & Break (Solution Development): Design and maintain scalable cloud-native lab environments. You will develop "vulnerable applications" to simulate real-world attacks (such as prompt injection, model poisoning, and API breaches) and demonstrate how F5 mitigates them.
- Code & Automate (DevOps): Build Terraform/Ansible configurations, and create GitHub-automated CI/CD pipelines to showcase how security integrates seamlessly into the modern developer's workflow.
- Evangelize & Educate (Content Creation): Translate complex technical architectures into highly engaging content. You’ll author deep-dive blogs, produce high-quality demo videos, build real-time interactive dashboards, and deliver presentations at key industry events.
- Collaborate & Influence: Partner closely with Product Management, Threat Intelligence (F5 Labs), and Product Engineering to influence product roadmaps based on real-world feedback from the field and customer communities.
What We Are Looking For (Qualifications)
We know that nobody is a perfect match for a massive list of keywords. If you have a strong foundation in application security, love coding, and are passionate about learning AI/ML security, we want to hear from you!
Core Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in a highly technical, hands-on role (TME, Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, Security QA, or similar).
- Strong Scripting & Automation: High proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Modern App Architecture: Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and container orchestration (Kubernetes / Docker).
- Security Literacy: Strong understanding of web application security fundamentals, including WAF, OWASP Top 10, and API Security.
- Storytelling & Communication: A proven track record of creating compelling technical content (e.g., blogs, YouTube/Vimeo demos, GitHub repositories, or technical documentation).
Preferred (Bonus Points!):
- Prior experience with F5 technologies (BIG-IP, NGINX, or F5 Distributed Cloud).
- Familiarity with emerging AI security frameworks, such as OWASP LLM Top 10 or MITRE ATLAS.
- Experience building or securing Generative AI/LLM-powered applications.
- An active presence in developer or open-source security communities.
What’s In It For You?
- Direct Impact on the AI Frontier: Work with F5’s newest, cutting-edge products like F5 AI Guardrails and define industry best practices for securing AI models.
- The Best of Both Worlds: Enjoy the technical depth of an engineering role combined with the creative freedom, community building, and visibility of a marketing role.
- A Culture of Growth: F5 is a global leader in application delivery and security. We provide the resources, labs, and support you need to continuously ramp up on emerging technologies.
