Location: Brisbane / Newcastle

 

Lead the delivery of major projects that keep Australia's rail freight moving. 

Aurizon is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Program Delivery team. In this role, you'll take ownership of the planning, delivery and successful completion of projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business and provide leadership throughout the project lifecycle. Based within the Asset Management & Strategy function, this role will deliver critical above-rail projects across Australia, including new rollingstock acquisitions, fleet obsolescence upgrades, and major wagon and locomotive overhaul programs. 

Reporting to the Program Manager, you will: 

  • Develop and manage project management plans, including scope, schedule, cost and quality management. 
  • Establish and maintain project baselines, budgets and work breakdown structures where required. 
  • Lead the delivery of projects from initiation through to completion. 
  • Monitor project performance and proactively manage risks, issues and project controls. 
  • Provide regular reporting to project sponsors, senior leaders and key stakeholders. 
  • Manage project governance requirements and ensure compliance with business and legal obligations. 
  • Support project close-out activities, including asset transfer, financial closure and audits. 
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams, contractors and stakeholders across the business.  

About You 

To be successful, you will bring: 

  • Rollingstock Experience (preferred) 
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects within large organisations. 
  • Strong planning, scheduling, budgeting and project control capability. 
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills. 
  • The ability to lead outcomes in fast-paced and changing environments. 
  • Well-developed problem-solving, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills. 
  • Experience working within commercial or operational project environments. 
  • Project Management qualifications or industry-recognised certifications. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business and Project Management will be highly regarded. 
  • Extensive project delivery experience, ideally with several years operating in a dedicated Project Manager capacity.
