What you’ll do
Role purpose:
To transform raw data into reliable, high-quality, and accessible data assets that enable BI Analysts and Data Scientists to deliver actionable insights. The role ensures data availability, accuracy, and scalability to support M-Pesa's operational excellence, innovation, and business growth.
Key Accountabilities:
- Build data systems and pipelines based on business needs and objectives;
- Aggregate, transform, and cleanse data from diverse internal sources including relational databases, files, and APIs;
- Collaborate with Business Performance Analysts and Data Scientists on several Initiatives;
- Ensure high data quality, integrity, and lineage through rigorous validation and monitoring processes;
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Scientists, and IT teams to deliver actionable insights and support strategic initiatives;
- Drive innovation in mobile money and financial services through advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making.
What we are looking in you:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field;
- 2-4 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Integration, Database;
- Proficiency in data engineering and integration technologies, including SQL, Apache Airflow, PySpark, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Jobs, and ETL/ELT frameworks;
- Knowledge of programming languages like Python, Java, Shell script, JavaScript & command line for Data management operations and Automation. Familiarity with Scala, Go, or Rust is a plus;
- Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and distributed systems;
- Exposure to fintech, mobile payments, and digital financial services ecosystem;
- Fluent in English and Portuguese.
