Datacom is seeking a Graduate Data & AI Engineer to join our Application Data and Analytics team in Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate who wants to build a career at the intersection of data, AI, cloud technologies, and quality engineering.
About Application Data and Analytics
At Datacom, our Application Data and Analytics team works across the full lifecycle of data and analytics solutions, from implementing new capabilities and delivering enhancements to providing ongoing managed services and operational support. We help customers build, maintain, and optimise platforms that enable data-driven decision-making while ensuring solutions remain reliable, secure, and fit for purpose. As organisations increasingly adopt AI-enabled capabilities, our team plays a key role in maintaining the quality, accuracy, and reliability of these solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Graduate, you'll work alongside experienced consultants and engineers to:
- Support activities across data and AI projects
- Assist with validating data pipelines and reporting solutions
- Help identify and investigate defects and data quality issues
- Learn data engineering best practices and methodologies
- Support the cloud-based data solutions
- Collaborate with cloud teams, data analysts, engineers, architects, and clients
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and automation opportunities
- Build your technical capability across modern data and AI platforms
About You
We're looking for someone who is curious, analytical, and excited by the possibilities of data and AI.
You may have:
- Recently completed (or be nearing completion of) a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Analytics, or a related discipline
- Completed internships, university projects, research, or practical experience involving AI, machine learning, analytics, or data platforms
- A genuine passion for data, technology, and problem-solving
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset
- The ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively within a team environment
Exposure to the following would be highly regarded
- AWS Cloud technologies
- AWS Glue
- Apache Airflow
- Azure Data Factory
- SQL
- Data engineering or ETL pipelines
- Data quality concepts
- AI and machine learning projects
