We're looking for a Data Engineer Level 2 to join our Advanced Data Products Team and help deliver the data platforms and pipelines that power data-driven decision-making across Derivco.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Data Engineer Level 2, you will play an important role in designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions that support critical business functions across the organisation.
Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will contribute to the end-to-end development of data pipelines, data models, and platform capabilities, helping to ensure data is accurate, accessible, scalable, and reliable.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable ELT pipelines using SQL, Python, dbt, and AWS services.
- Building and enhancing data models within Snowflake across staging, intermediate, and mart layers.
- Integrating new data sources and datasets to support business intelligence, analytics, and advanced data initiatives.
- Implementing and maintaining data quality controls, monitoring, and observability solutions.
- Supporting the optimisation of query performance, storage strategies, and overall platform efficiency.
- Assisting with the deployment, support, and continuous improvement of production data pipelines.
- Collaborating with Data Scientists, Analytics Engineers, Software Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver data solutions that meet business requirements.
- Contributing to data platform automation and engineering best practices.
- Participating in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Investigating and resolving data-related issues while ensuring high levels of reliability and performance.

Core Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience in Data Engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and solid experience with Python development.
- Hands-on experience with dbt and modern data transformation practices.
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms, particularly AWS and Snowflake.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or similar technologies.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modelling, and data lifecycle management.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with large-scale production data platforms.
- Exposure to data platform modernisation or cloud migration initiatives.
- Experience implementing data quality, data governance, or observability frameworks.
- Knowledge of streaming technologies and real-time data processing solutions.
- Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps practices.
