Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Systems Testing / QA Specialist to plan, organize, and execute comprehensive testing activities for enterprise applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing testing strategies, creating and executing test plans, supporting Agile delivery teams, and ensuring high-quality software releases through functional, integration, performance, regression, and user acceptance testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide

advice on testing strategies, test plans, testing tools, and resource requirements.

  • Plan

and organize testing efforts for large systems in GUI and non-GUI environments.

  • Execute

systems integration testing, specialized testing, and user acceptance testing, including stress testing.

  • Develop

test plans, test scripts, and test cases for various system components.

  • Collaborate

with project teams during analysis, design, development, implementation, and ongoing support activities.

  • Execute

functional, integration, system, and regression testing.

  • Validate

system behavior under various operational scenarios.

  • Identify,

document, and track software defects using defect management tools.

  • Work

closely with development teams to reproduce and resolve issues.

  • Develop

and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard automation tools.

  • Integrate

automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Conduct

performance, load, and stress testing.

  • Ensure

compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and related regulations.

  • Collaborate

with developers, business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure quality outcomes.

  • Participate

in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Maintain

detailed testing documentation, coverage reports, and quality metrics.

  • Contribute

to user documentation and release notes.

  • Ensure

testing processes align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Experience

planning, organizing, and implementing testing initiatives.

  • Knowledge

of structured software development and testing methodologies.

  • Experience

utilizing automated testing tools and version control systems.

  • Experience

executing functional, non-functional, integration, regression, performance, and load testing.

  • Experience

supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Strong

understanding of quality assurance principles, practices, and frameworks.

  • Experience

creating testing strategies, test plans, test cases, and test data.

  • Knowledge

of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Experience

writing clear, comprehensive, and maintainable test cases.

  • Experience

performing backend and data validation testing using queries.

  • Understanding

of software testing lifecycles and best practices.

  • Experience

with security testing and collaboration with security teams.

  • Experience

developing and managing test data strategies.

  • Experience

validating data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across systems.

  • Experience

developing and executing performance test scripts and analyzing performance bottlenecks.

analyzing business requirements, user stories, user journey maps, use cases, and non-functional requirements.

  • Experience

creating and managing test data to support testing strategies.

Public Sector Experience

  • Experience

working with federal, provincial, broader public sector, or healthcare organizations.

  • Experience

supporting large-scale public sector technology initiatives.

  • Experience

integrating clinical or enterprise information systems.

  • Knowledge

of public sector enterprise architecture principles and documentation standards.

  • Knowledge

of public sector project governance methodologies and SDLC frameworks.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Strong

verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong

interpersonal, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrated

ability to work collaboratively with business teams, developers, DBAs, and technical specialists.

  • Proven

analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong

track record of meeting deadlines and working effectively in team environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience

with at least one programming language.

  • Experience

using information retrieval tools.

  • Knowledge

of testing methods in object-oriented environments.

  • Understanding

of information management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.

  • Experience

testing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications.

  • Experience

developing automated test scripts and automation frameworks.
