The Support Engineer is responsible for supporting pulp and paper customers by optimizing chemical treatment programs, maintaining process equipment, and providing technical expertise that improves mill performance, reliability, and product quality. This position works closely with customer operations, maintenance, and production teams to deliver measurable results and long-term customer value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine testing, monitoring, and analysis of pulp and paper manufacturing processes and chemical treatment programs.
  • Support wet-end, retention, drainage, strength, deposit control, and water treatment applications to ensure optimal mill performance.
  • Troubleshoot process upsets, quality issues, and equipment performance concerns in partnership with customer personnel.
  • Analyze operating data and provide recommendations to improve productivity, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Manage chemical inventories and support product deliveries to ensure uninterrupted customer operations.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot chemical feed systems, pumps, instrumentation, and monitoring equipment.
  • Prepare and communicate service reports, performance updates, and improvement recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers to ensure customer satisfaction, business retention, and identification of growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in pulp & paper manufacturing, specialty chemicals, process engineering, paper science, or a related industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of paper machine operations, process chemistry, or mill support functions preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot pumps, feed systems, instrumentation, and related equipment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment and support multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the assigned territory.

The expected compensation range for this position is between $70,250.00 and $103,026.00 plus discretionary bonuses. The exact compensation may vary based on your skills, experience and other factors permitted by law.
