The Information Security Engineer is responsible for the overall Cyber security stance of Torrens institutions. They should have a strong appreciation with demonstrated expertise regarding IT Security including continuous assessment of security posture and ongoing improvements.
Principal accountabilities include (but are not limited to):
- The engineer will be a self-driven technologist who works closely with others within the security department as well as members of other Information Technology departments and business stakeholders to identify, analyze, and remediate threats.
- The engineer may also be leveraged to assist in designing, building, operating and monitoring leading-edge security infrastructure, platforms, applications and tools to meet strategic and tactical security objectives.
- The engineer will work with technical managers, software development, and IT operations staff to mitigate or remediate vulnerabilities and manage technology risks across the enterprise.
- Conduct Vendor Security assessments for new vendors required by the business in a timely manner.
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to potential security threats identified by Torrens security systems (e.g. Nexpose, Cisco AMP for Endpoints, Cisco IDS, email-based threats, Cisco Umbrella
- Enter information into ticketing and similar systems to track threats, assignment, and remediation actions
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of combined hands-on experience in analysis and security engineering, research and/or consulting
- 5+ years of networking background; preferred experience with Cisco technologies
- Experience understanding and determining vulnerabilities via industry standard tools
- Experience monitoring and assessing security threats
- Responsible for remediation or analysis for identified security incident
- Understanding of enterprise, network, system/endpoint, and application-level security issues and risks

This is a permanent, full-time position with hybrid work flexibility. Preference to be based at our Surry Hills campus in Sydney but open also open to the role being based at locations where we have a campus – Melbourne, Brisbane & Adelaide.
