About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape the next generation of Athennian’s products and experiences. Reporting to the Manager of Product & Design, you’ll work at the intersection of product strategy, customer needs, emerging technology, and exceptional design. You’ll take complex B2B workflows and turn them into intuitive, modern experiences—while helping us push beyond traditional enterprise software patterns, particularly as we introduce new AI-powered capabilities.
This is a highly collaborative and influential role. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, customers, and the executive team to lead discovery, explore new concepts, challenge assumptions, and translate product direction into experiences that differentiate Athennian in the market.
We’re looking for someone who is curious, creative, decisive, and comfortable moving quickly. You should have strong design principles and opinions, while being equally comfortable testing those ideas, incorporating feedback, and evolving your thinking as we learn.
What you'll do
- Lead Product Discovery: Partner with Product Managers to lead discovery, understand customer problems, test assumptions, and translate insights into clear product direction.
- Create Differentiated Experiences: Bring a strong design perspective and push beyond traditional enterprise UX to create intuitive, modern experiences that differentiate Athennian in the market.
- Shape AI Experiences: Explore emerging AI interaction patterns and translate new capabilities into experiences that are useful, intuitive, and trustworthy.
- Move Quickly from Concept to Execution: Rapidly turn ideas into workflows, prototypes, and high-quality designs that help teams learn, make decisions, and move into development.
- Champion the User: Build a deep understanding of our customers and balance their needs with product strategy, business objectives, and technical considerations.
- Collaborate & Influence: Work closely with Product, Engineering, customers, and executive leadership to challenge assumptions, incorporate feedback, and maintain alignment with broader product direction.
- Drive Design Quality: Set a high bar for interaction and visual design, evolve our design systems and patterns, and partner with Engineering to ensure quality carries through to the final product.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in Product Design, UX/UI, or similar roles, with a strong portfolio demonstrating ownership of complex, high-quality product experiences.
- Strong Product & Design Thinking: Strong design principles and product judgment, with the ability to simplify complex problems, challenge assumptions, and connect design decisions to customer and business outcomes.
- B2B SaaS & AI Experience: Experience designing complex B2B or enterprise software, with strong curiosity and ideally hands-on experience designing AI-powered features, workflows, or interactions.
- Modern Product Design, Research & AI Fluency: Advanced proficiency with Figma and FigJam, strong experience using Pendo and modern research methods to uncover and validate user needs, and hands-on fluency with AI tools such as Claude and Cursor to rapidly explore, prototype, test, and deliver sophisticated SaaS and AI-enabled experiences.
- Discovery & Execution: Proven ability to lead customer discovery and validation, rapidly translate insights into prototypes and designs, and move effectively from ambiguity through delivery.
- Collaboration & Influence: A highly collaborative communicator who can bring a strong point of view, work effectively with Product and Engineering, and confidently incorporate feedback from customers and executive leadership.
- Startup Experience: Experience thriving in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven startup environment where initiative, collaboration, and a bias for action are key to driving success.
