Senior Software Engineer, Android

Accountabilities: The Senior Software Engineer, Android will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving mobile applications while driving technical excellence, reliability, and innovation across Android platforms.

• Own the full lifecycle of Android features, from problem definition and technical design through implementation, release, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

• Develop high-performance Android applications using Kotlin and Java while following modern engineering practices and maintaining strong code quality standards.

• Define and improve mobile quality benchmarks, including application stability, performance, accessibility, security, and overall user experience.

• Lead Android architecture decisions and establish scalable technical foundations, including modularization, design system components, networking patterns, and telemetry solutions.

• Ensure safe and reliable releases through feature flags, staged rollouts, server-driven configurations, monitoring, and rollback strategies.

• Build and maintain observability solutions for critical user journeys, including error tracking, latency monitoring, performance optimization, and resource management.

• Improve cross-platform consistency by collaborating with iOS and web teams to establish shared standards and reduce experience gaps.

• Conduct technical reviews, mentor engineers, improve development workflows, and contribute to engineering best practices across teams.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Backend teams to create user-focused solutions based on research, experimentation, and measurable outcomes.

• Produce clear technical documentation and promote knowledge sharing within the engineering organization.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have extensive Android development experience, strong technical leadership skills, and a track record of delivering impactful mobile products at scale.

• 6+ years of experience building large-scale Android applications with proven experience delivering high-impact user-facing features.

• Advanced expertise in Kotlin, with strong knowledge of Java interoperability and Android development best practices.

• Strong experience with Gradle, Jetpack Compose, XML/ViewBinding, Android architecture patterns, and modern Android frameworks.

• Solid understanding of concurrency concepts using Coroutines and Flow, as well as Android performance profiling tools.

• Experience designing mobile networking solutions using technologies such as REST and Retrofit.

• Knowledge of offline capabilities, caching strategies, local databases such as Room, and secure storage solutions including Android Keystore and encrypted storage.

• Experience implementing mobile security, privacy, accessibility, and compliance best practices.

• Strong background in release engineering, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, staged deployments, feature flags, and rollback processes.

• Ability to influence technical direction across teams through architecture decisions, mentoring, and engineering standards.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

• Data-driven mindset with the ability to use metrics and user insights to guide technical decisions.

• Advanced English communication skills (C1 level).

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical fields.

• Experience with cross-platform development is considered a plus.
