This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Database Systems Engineer based in the United States.
This is a senior technical opportunity supporting complex healthcare technology and enterprise testing environments within the federal sector. You will combine database engineering, software development, systems integration, architecture analysis, and testing to support mission-critical applications. The role works across platforms including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, electronic health record systems, and integrated application environments. You will design and assess architectures, develop Python-based solutions, evaluate integrations, and establish effective testing environments. Success requires the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with customers, project teams, technical stakeholders, and external partners. Accountabilities
- Evaluate, implement, test, and manage technology solutions supporting complex healthcare and enterprise application environments.
- Develop and execute architecture strategies, feasibility studies, integration analyses, and technical assessments for applications, databases, and external systems.
- Gather and define architecture requirements independently, ensuring proposed solutions align with applicable IT standards, project requirements, and organizational policies.
- Analyze application architectures, conduct risk assessments, and establish appropriate architectures and configurations for testing environments.
- Support software engineering and integration activities involving Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Python, web applications, and interconnected enterprise systems.
- Develop Python scripts and applications, including Python-based websites and solutions that support software engineering, integration, testing, and data analysis activities.
- Design and execute integration testing between applications, databases, external components, and supporting systems, while developing effective test cases and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Produce clear, accurate client-facing analysis reports and technical deliverables with minimal supervision.
- Capture, publish, organize, and maintain architecture artifacts using established architecture tools, repositories, and repository management processes.
- Collaborate with government customers, project teams, contract teammates, and other stakeholders to communicate technical findings, resolve issues, and support project objectives.
- Manage multiple priorities simultaneously, adapt to changing requirements, and maintain high levels of accuracy and organization while working independently.
- Apply strong customer service, written communication, and presentation skills when engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support security and compliance requirements associated with government systems and participate in required investigations and clearance processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a related technical discipline; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- At least 10 years of overall information technology experience, including substantial software engineering, systems integration, architecture analysis, and application testing experience.
- Demonstrated experience integrating and testing applications, databases, and external applications or components within complex technology environments.
- Hands-on experience working with Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases in UNIX, VMS, and/or Windows environments.
- Strong software development experience, preferably including Python, Java, or J2EE applications and scripting.
- Experience analyzing system architecture and database development concepts, with the ability to assess technical risks and develop appropriate testing approaches.
- Knowledge of network protocols and enterprise application integration technologies.
- Experience designing and creating test cases, conducting system integration testing, and applying structured or risk-based testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with healthcare technology, Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, or other government architecture and engineering environments is highly desirable.
- Experience with Oracle Health Millennium or comparable electronic health record platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with HP Quality Center, Rational ClearQuest, or comparable testing and quality management tools is a plus.
- Experience with AI tools used for software development, automation, or data analysis is desirable.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint for documentation, collaboration, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality client deliverables independently.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple tasks and shifting priorities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with government customers, technical teams, project stakeholders, and contract partners.
- Must be eligible to undergo a government investigation and obtain and maintain a government-granted security clearance.
