Technical Support Engineer - Contract to Hire

DISHER is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to serve as a resource for customers. This role is responsible for understanding customer challenges, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, coordinating technical solutions, and ensuring issues are properly documented and escalated when needed. An ideal candidate is curious, resourceful, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where they may wear multiple hats.

What you will get to do:

Customer Technical Support & Troubleshooting

  • Serve as first point of contact for customer technical issues
  • Diagnose problems and provide remote troubleshooting via phone, email, and video
  • Resolve issues independently or escalate to engineering/field service as needed
  • Own customer issues through resolution and document root causes and corrective actions
  • Act as technical liaison between customers, sales, engineering, and operations
  • Translate field issues into actionable engineering requirements
  • Support commissioning, startup, and customer training as needed
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend design or process improvements

Sales & Applications Support

  • Provide technical expertise in sales conversations and discovery calls
  • Evaluate customer applications and feasibility
  • Assist with technical proposals and specifications
  • Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

Customer Success & Documentation

  • Partner with Marketing to develop troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and service/IOM/operator manuals
  • Partner with Customer Service to build scalable support processes
  • Track issues and identify trends for proactive solutions

What will make you successful: Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent hands-on technical experience
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, equipment support, applications engineering, field service, or related technical role
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand industrial equipment and processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems using structured problem-solving methods
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers
  • Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel occasionally for customer support, testing, or equipment commissioning
  • Required to travel up to 50%

Preferred (not required) Qualifications:

  • Experience with industrial processing equipment, manufacturing systems, automation, or machinery
  • Experience supporting food processing, agriculture, ingredients, or related industries
  • Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, or field service
  • Familiarity with CAD drawings, P&IDs, electrical diagrams, or equipment documentation
  • Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience working with CRM, ticketing, or customer support systems
