Job Description:

Senior Technical Support Engineer (full-time, regular)

Hillsboro, OR

Description:

Perform escalations, fleet performance testing, system installations, training, documentation generation, and participate in special projects. Train and provide guidance and/or information to other Technical Support Engineers as well as Yield Control Technology Engineers. Ensure field implementation and compliance by creating and reviewing documentation for upgrades, maintenance, installations, and troubleshooting. Create and present system performance data, including availability, preventive maintenance “green-to-green” time, and mean time between failures. Search for performance trends and propose and carry out ideas for improvement. Retain technical and product knowledge while developing an understanding of business variables, processes, and characteristics. Collaborate closely with external clients and all supporting groups of Hitachi High-Tech America, Inc., including New Product Introduction, Technical Support Group (TSG), Service, Technology, Sales, Design, and QA. Coordinate technical fieldwork, as necessary. Deliver technical data in high-level customer meetings between domestic and international divisions of Hitachi. Generate reports, such as TSG reports, escalation reports, and national service alert reports. Prepare and provide thorough documentation to aid in problem solving and/or engineer training. Own project responsibility while applying project management methodology.

Travel required: 50% of time performing technical and maintenance support of Hitachi High-Tech America’s products installed at customer sites in Oregon.

Job location: 3600 NE Huffman Street, Hillsboro, OR 97124. Work from home permitted 20% of time.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or the foreign equivalent) in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in the job offered or related.
  • Experience with:
  • Hitachi High kV and HF5000 Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEMs);
  • Hitachi NX5000/NX9000 Focused Ion Beam (FIB) systems;
  • Optical technology in electron microscopy;
  • Automated mechanical transfer system technology; and
  • Spherical Aberration Corrector.
