Position Summary

The Manager of Business Intelligence (BI) Application Administration is a self-motivated individual responsible for leading a team that provides a reliable, up-to-date, secure, and stable BI Application environment. They are responsible for the overall personnel management of their team including recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning. They are responsible for communicating and ensuring alignment of team activities with departmental and organizational goals. They lead their team to ensure a secure reliable BI Application infrastructure through proactive event and performance monitoring, timely issue resolution, performance of regular upgrades, capacity planning, user access management, production content management, user technical support, development, and enforcement of application and security standards. Their team provides responsive support ensures the availability of a robust BI Infrastructure that supports business decisions. This administrative support impacts multiple areas such as consumer experience, marketing, quality, hospital and clinic operations, supply chain, finance, etc.

The BI Manager has the following duties and responsibilities:

Manages day to day personnel functions for their staff, including interviewing and selection, productivity, training and development, performance management and succession planning. Mentors and coaches team members to assist them with their skills and career development. Promotes an inclusive, positive, and safe working environment for their staff.

Leads team projects and initiatives. Balance the needs of the business, while managing the workload demand, allocations, and resource capacity. Ensures team coverage of all production support activities. Oversees the establishment and enforces team adherence to production schedules including on-call, production dashboard and workflow refresh schedules, production promotions, planned outages and upgrades, and access management processes and audits. Establishes event detection, contingency and communication plans for issues and unscheduled exceptions. Ensures prompt response and timely communication with all affected stakeholders and Data Integration Leadership when incidents occur. Proactively coordinates with data warehouse production support, ITS, vendors, and other stakeholders on both planned and unplanned events to ensure timely and effective outcomes. Establishes clear accountability for team production support responsibilities and enforces adherence to these responsibilities to ensure operational high reliability.

Oversees the establishment and clear communication of and adherence to application administration standards and best practices by team and stakeholders. Ensures that timely stakeholder communication and education is provided to the BI teams and through established channels (i.e., Self-Service Enablement (SSE) and the Operations for Data Governance Team). Establishes clear accountability and enforces adherence to these standards to promote high reliability. Establish periodic reviews and institute feedback mechanisms with BI Development, SSE and the BI Performance Architect to identify opportunities for improvement and to respond to tools and environment changes to keep standards and best practices updated.

Oversees maintenance of application and server capacity and license usage monitoring and reporting. Maintains effective vendor relationships and coordination of vendor support activities. Approves and oversees implementation of actions that balance performance considerations with established customer service level needs. Anticipates and provides timely communication to leadership of capacity needs that have budget impacts.

Communicates team goals and objectives. Measures results to ensure team alignment. Delegates responsibility for projects and initiatives to their team members based on their ability and development goals while ensuring accountability.

Proactively grows interrelationships among partners and customers and analysts who are dependent on the BI Application Environment for their information needs and manages those relationships to assure effective solutions. Promotes use approved BI applications and data sources as well as adherence to accepted standards and best practices to fulfill information needs.

Enforces team compliance with THR data governance, information security and privacy policies, ITSM processes and Data Integration architectural, design development and testing standards and best practices. Encourage adherence to data governance requirements and approved definitions.

Education Bachelor's Degree General Business, Marketing, Healthcare, Information Technology Data Analytics, Statistics or relevant field. Required And Master's Degree Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology Data Analytics, Statistics, or relevant field. Preferred

Experience 7 Years With a Bachelor's degree - relevant analytics experience in BI/EDW or IT Development, Healthcare, Consulting, Finance, Analytics, or a closely related field with significant hands-on job experience using modern BI visualization software, data preparation tools and/or SQL development to support decision making to include 2 years relevant technical leadership (formal or informal) experience over analytics or application development, production support, testing, training and/or data governance. Required or 5 Years With a Master's degree - relevant analytics experience in BI/EDW or IT Development, Healthcare, Consulting, Finance, Analytics, or a closely related field with significant hands-on job experience using modern BI visualization software, data preparation tools and/or SQL development to support decision making to include 2 years relevant technical leadership (formal or informal) experience over analytics or application development, production support, testing, training and/or data governance Required and 1 Year Experience in Healthcare or related field Preferred Managerial Experience a Plus Process Improvement Experience Strongly Preferred

Skills Experience managing, recruiting developing and leading technical teams required.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with focus on concise, cohesive, critical HRO focused communication with vendors, business users, and executives with ability to influence and persuade others.

Experience successfully leading multi-disciplined teams to rapidly deliver to aggressive schedules while identifying impacts and proposing resolutions and managing changes in scope along the way.

Demonstrated knowledge of SDLC, ITSM and privacy and security concepts are required.

Knowledge of rapid cycle development methodologies is preferred (i.e., Agile, Scrum, etc.).

Experience with interviewing and gathering business requirements, definition and design including the facilitation of requirements and design meetings. Experience with use case development and documentation.

Some combination of prior hands-on application development, business intelligence or data warehouse development life cycle experience in one or more of the following areas is required: BI Application project management BI Applications Administration BI solutions or data architecture BI and Database design and development Data mapping, profiling. analysis, and quality validation BI application or database testing Application training and User Group support Data Governance

Exposure/Experience with one or more of the following technologies is preferred: Tableau or equivalent BI visualization software Alteryx Designer or equivalent data preparation software Alteryx Connect or equivalent enterprise data catalog application Teradata or similar extended data warehouse technology Salesforce Service, Health & Marketing Clouds and Datorama
