Summary
The Solutions Architect serves as principal architect of large and complex hardware, software, database, networking, and telecommunication solutions. This role determines Laboratory-wide requirements and incorporates them into solutions that may be commercial off the shelf (Oracle P6, PIF, WebLogic) or internally developed software and hardware. The individual may be responsible for project management in implementing complex solutions, including oversight of project documentation, marketing, training, budget, schedules, resource utilization, and benefits realization on complex solutions projects. This is an expert-level position within the Laboratory, working under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets, with assignments that are often self-initiated and virtually self-supervisory.
Job Duties
- Assures safety and security compliance and makes safety and security an integral part of every task
- Researches, assembles, and evaluates information regarding industry practices or regulatory changes affecting telecommunication, data management, security, networking, hardware, software development, and systems programming; recommends sound, practical solutions to complex issues
- Leads complex projects requiring in-depth analysis, gathering of customer requirements, and cross-discipline solution sets
- Researches solutions for complex problems spanning multiple disciplines, including hardware, software development, systems programming, data management, security, networking, and telecommunications
- Provides technical leadership and architectural direction for complex systems
- Integrates strategic thinking into the formulation of solutions and capabilities, ensuring long-term business objectives are factored into the design process
- Formally manages projects from inception through implementation, including project management, documentation, and training of users, system administrators, and other stakeholders
- Fosters a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment
Required Job Knowledge & Technical Skills
- Expert knowledge and demonstrated application of current and future network, data management, security, hardware, software development, and systems programming technologies, including how they interoperate and how to architect complex, enterprise web application solutions
- Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Demonstrated team-building experience with technologists
- Expert knowledge in SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS implementation, administration, maintenance, and end-user support
- Strong knowledge of Oracle WebLogic for web applications
- Strong knowledge of Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management (P6 EPPM)
- Expert level knowledge of Oracle Project Integration Framework (PIF)
- Experience maintaining environments for integration of project controls skills, including estimating, schedules, and costs
- Working knowledge of SQL, specifically T-SQL and PL/SQL
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 12 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
- Post-graduate coursework, professional certifications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be expected
