Description:
The role is responsible for leading and managing mechanical engineering activities supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. The role ensures design, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical systems and utilities in compliance with quality, safety, regulatory, cost, and performance standards. It involves interpreting engineering drawings, plans, and specifications, overseeing execution, and ensuring validated and audit-ready systems. The role supports resource planning, team guidance, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives. It contributes to reliable production operations, timely project execution, and engineering governance, while ensuring adherence to established engineering standards, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Manage multiple greenfield and brownfield engineering projects covering manufacturing equipment, utilities, automation, facility modifications and capacity-expansion initiatives.
- Lead project initiation, scope definition, URS preparation, capital approval, project planning, risk assessment and governance.
- Participate in conceptual, basic and detailed engineering with user functions, CFTs, engineering consultants and PMC.
- Coordinate preparation and review of design-basis documents, layouts, P&IDs, utility requirements, equipment specifications and detailed engineering deliverables.
- Lead vendor technical discussions, technical bid evaluation, vendor recommendation, drawing review and execution coordination.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, procurement plans, delivery schedules, installation plans, commissioning plans and qualification milestones.
- Conduct regular progress reviews, maintain project dashboards and provide structured updates to site and corporate leadership.
- Coordinate site readiness, equipment installation, utility integration, automation, commissioning, qualification and formal handover.
- Monitor project scope, cost, schedule, risks, changes, safety, quality and documentation throughout the lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with applicable GMP, EHS, validation, company engineering and statutory requirements.
- Facilitate timely resolution of cross-functional and vendor-related issues and implement recovery plans for schedule deviations.
- Complete project closure through punch-point resolution, as-built documentation, training, spares, warranty and lessons-learned review.
- To prepare, review, and approve any document required for design, development, implementation of any of the Projects or required during execution of any activity as per roles and responsibility.
- To perform additional tasks as directed by Reporting Manager.
