Southern National Roofing | Charlotte, NC | Full-Time, On-Site

Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000, based on experience and qualifications

Experience: 2-3 years of relevant business or analytical experience

Position Summary

Southern National Roofing is seeking a Business Analyst to support our growing organization with reporting, forecasting, budgeting, analytics, and other business initiatives.

This is a broad, hands-on analytical role that will work across multiple areas of the company, including sales, marketing, operations, finance, recruiting, and call center operations. The Business Analyst will work closely with company leadership to turn business data into useful information that helps us understand performance, identify opportunities, and make better decisions.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with numbers and data but who also understands that good analysis requires understanding the business behind the numbers.

The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of relevant business or analytical experience. We are open to candidates at different stages of development within that range and will consider demonstrated analytical ability, business aptitude, technical skills, and growth potential when determining compensation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales, marketing, operational, and financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain management reports, dashboards, scorecards, and KPI tracking.
  • Use Salesforce or similar CRM platforms to extract, organize, validate, and analyze business information.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and ongoing financial forecasting.
  • Compare actual performance to budgets, forecasts, prior periods, and company goals.
  • Identify trends, performance gaps, and unusual results that require further investigation.
  • Analyze sales performance, including lead volume, appointments, conversion rates, close rates, average order values, revenue, and productivity.
  • Analyze marketing and lead-source performance, including cost, conversion, revenue, and return on investment.
  • Assist management with workforce, staffing, and productivity analysis.
  • Build and maintain Excel models, reports, trackers, and analytical tools.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations that clearly communicate findings and recommendations to management.
  • Assist with improving data quality and reporting accuracy within Salesforce and other company systems.
  • Work directly with department leaders to understand business issues and determine what information is needed to evaluate them.
  • Support special projects involving sales, marketing, operations, finance, recruiting, and other business functions.
  • Help improve and streamline recurring reporting and analytical processes as the company grows.

What Success Looks Like

This position is not simply about producing reports. We want the Business Analyst to understand why the numbers are changing and what they mean to the business.

For example, rather than simply reporting that sales productivity declined during a particular month, the analyst should be able to investigate the data, identify the factors contributing to the decline, and clearly communicate those findings to management.

The analyst should develop the ability to take a business question, determine what information is needed, analyze the available data, and translate the results into useful information for decision-making.

Over time, we expect this person to become a trusted analytical resource who helps company leadership answer important business questions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in business analysis, financial analysis, sales analysis, operations analysis, or a related analytical role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Analytics, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with Salesforce or a similar CRM platform.
  • Experience working with business reporting, budgets, forecasts, financial information, or performance analysis.
  • Experience analyzing sales, marketing, or operational data is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, sorting, filtering, and data analysis.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint, including the ability to turn analysis into clear management presentations.
  • Microsoft Word.
  • Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or other analytical tools is helpful but not required.

Skills and Characteristics

  • Naturally curious and wants to understand why something happened.
  • Enjoys working with numbers and solving business problems.
  • Can recognize when data does not appear reasonable and investigate further.
  • Can take a business question and determine what information is needed to answer it.
  • Can distinguish meaningful trends from normal fluctuations in business performance.
  • Communicates findings clearly without unnecessarily complicating the analysis.
  • Is comfortable interacting with managers and senior leadership.
  • Can manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Is willing to ask questions and learn how different parts of the business operate.
  • Can work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
  • Is interested in developing broader business and financial skills.

Growth Opportunity

Southern National Roofing is a growing company, and we expect this position to grow with the organization.

Initially, the Business Analyst will provide broad analytical support across multiple business functions. As the individual develops a deeper understanding of the company, the position may take on greater responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, management reporting, business intelligence, and strategic analysis.

For the right individual, this position provides an opportunity to gain significant exposure to multiple areas of the business, work directly with company leadership, and develop into a more senior analytical or business leadership role.
