Position Summary 

At CVS Health, we are modernizing the Clinical Authorization System (CAS) into a scalable, cloud-ready, API-first platform. We are seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer with strong .NET backend and Angular frontend expertise to build and enhance modern, full-stack solutions. 

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on delivering high-quality software, driving modernization, and supporting scalable UI/UX experiences and backend services. 

You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, UX, QA, DevSecOps, and SRE teams to deliver secure, performant, and reliable solutions aligned to business outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities 

Full-Stack Development (.NET + Angular) 

  • Design and develop full-stack applications using:  
  • .NET / .NET Core (backend services, APIs) 
  • Angular (UI/UX layer) 
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices supporting CAS workflows 
  • Develop responsive, high-performing UI components aligned with UX standards 

System Design & Modernization 

  • Contribute to modernization of CAS from monolithic architecture to cloud-ready services 
  • Participate in feature-level design and architecture discussions 
  • Implement scalable patterns for service integration, API management, and UI orchestration 

Performance & Reliability 

  • Optimize application performance across UI, services, and data layers 
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support root cause analysis 
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of applications 

Engineering Excellence 

  • Follow secure SDLC and best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment 
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks 
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise standards and security requirements 

AI & Automation (Emerging) 

  • Support integration of AI-driven capabilities (e.g., document processing, decision automation) 
  • Build APIs/services that integrate with AI/ML platforms where applicable 
  • Follow responsible AI and data handling practices 

Collaboration 

  • Partner with Product, UX, QA, DevSecOps, and SRE teams 
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to backlog refinement 
  • Support deployments, release readiness, and post-release stabilization 

Required Qualifications 

  • Strong hands-on experience with:  
  • .NET / .NET Core (C#) 
  • Angular (modern Angular versions preferred) 
  • Experience building full-stack applications (UI + APIs + services) 
  • Solid understanding of API design, system design, and distributed systems fundamentals 
  • Experience with SQL databases (SQL Server preferred) 
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Agile development practices 
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills (UI + backend) 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience modernizing legacy systems into microservices or cloud-native architectures  
  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture, DDD, and API governance  
  • Experience with Azure and/or GCP cloud platforms 
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices, observability, and monitoring tools 
  • Experience with AI/ML or Generative AI integrations 
  • Experience in healthcare/pharmacy or regulated environments (HIPAA/PHI)  

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (required) 
  • Master’s degree (preferred)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$92,700.00 - $185,400.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
