QA Tester (f/m/d)

Full-Time | Berlin, Germany

Swift Games is a Berlin mobile game studio and part of Ares Interactive, the cross-platform free-to-play group founded in 2024 by former Glu Mobile CEO Niccolo de Masi. Our 20+ person team (design, art, development, marketing) builds Heroes vs. Hordes, our flagship survival action roguelite RPG with 13M+ installs and a global player base that keeps growing. We've also just launched The Walking Dead: Aftermath, built on AMC's The Walking Dead license, so the studio has real momentum right now.

We're looking for a QA Tester to help us maintain a high quality bar on Heroes vs. Hordes as we continue to scale the game. You'll take ownership of hands-on testing, bug reporting, and QA coordination across features and releases, working closely with development, design, product, and community to catch issues before they reach players.

What you'll do:

  • Test new features, systems, SDK integrations, and releases on Heroes vs. Hordes, with a strong focus on manual and exploratory testing
  • Create clear, reproducible bug reports and independently maintain test cases, checklists, and test plans
  • Coordinate testing within the sprint, identify QA risks, and make sure important areas are covered before release
  • Turn player-reported issues from Discord and Helpshift into clean, actionable bug tickets, working alongside our Community Manager to translate player language into technical detail
  • Own localization QA checks, making sure translated text appears correctly in-game, fits the available space, and makes sense in context
  • Collaborate closely with developers, design, and product to catch issues early, validate fixes, and track build quality and rollout health
  • Investigate bugs beyond the initial symptoms, gathering useful context, reproduction steps, device information, logs, or other relevant details where possible
  • Bring a player's perspective to identify bugs, usability issues, and rough edges that could affect the player experience
  • Help improve our QA processes, documentation, and testing practices as the game and team continue to grow

What you'll bring (must-haves):

  • 3+ years of professional experience in QA, software testing, or game testing
  • Previous QA experience in the games industry, especially mobile or free-to-play games
  • Strong understanding of manual and exploratory testing, including how to approach feature testing, regression testing, and release validation
  • Experience writing clear bug reports, test cases, and practical test plans
  • Confidence working independently and taking ownership of QA tasks within a sprint
  • Strong written communication in English, since bug reports and player-to-ticket translation live or die on clarity
  • Genuine interest in mobile games, especially roguelite or roguelike action games
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable collaborating across disciplines
  • Openness to using AI tools in your daily work to move faster and cut the busywork (it's how we operate)
  • Familiarity with bug tracking tools such as JIRA or similar

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with agile workflows, sprint planning, and release processes
  • Experience testing mobile applications across different devices, operating systems, and configurations
  • Basic SQL or programming knowledge
  • Experience with DevOps tools like GitLab
  • Experience investigating logs, analytics, crash reports, or other technical debugging information
