POSITION SUMMARY

The System Configuration Administrator is responsible for designing, configuring, testing, maintaining, and continuously improving complex system configurations within a fast-paced, lender-facing application. This role serves as a key bridge between business operations, product stakeholders, and IT teams to ensure application settings, business rules, checklists, roles, programs, and release changes are accurate, scalable, compliant, and aligned with business needs.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, analytically strong, comfortable working with complex logic, and able to manage priorities in a rapid delivery environment. This role requires a strong understanding of application configuration governance, business rule design, user acceptance testing, release coordination, and cross-functional communication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Configure and maintain complex application settings, including detailed business rules, eligibility logic, workflows, checklists, user roles, permissions, program structures, and operational controls.
  • Translate business requirements into clear, accurate, and maintainable system configuration solutions that support lender-facing processes and business operations.
  • Create, modify, and maintain program configurations, including program rules, required data fields, validation logic, document or checklist requirements, and user access needs.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify impacts, recommend configuration options, and validate that solutions meet intended outcomes.
  • Review configuration requests for completeness, downstream impacts, compliance considerations, operational risks, and alignment with established standards.
  • Develop and maintain configuration documentation, change logs, decision records, test evidence, and release readiness materials.
  • Plan detailed test scenarios and test scripts to validate configuration changes, business rules, workflows, checklists, roles, and program functionality.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing with business teams, product owners, quality assurance, development, release management, and other IT partners.
  • Track UAT defects, configuration gaps, issue resolution, retesting status, and release readiness decisions through closure.
  • Support release planning by coordinating configuration deployment activities, validating release contents, assessing change impacts, and ensuring implementation readiness.
  • Assist with post-release validation, issue triage, root cause analysis, and remediation of production configuration issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve configuration governance, reduce manual workarounds, strengthen documentation, and increase operational consistency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience administering, configuring, or supporting business-critical enterprise applications, preferably in a financial services, mortgage, lending, or regulated operational environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret business requirements and convert them into structured system configurations, business rules, workflows, and test scenarios.
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex rule logic, role-based access models, checklists, program setup, workflow controls, or application governance processes.
  • Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle, change management, release management, UAT coordination, and production support practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced technology and business environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business, technology, quality assurance, and release teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, issue tracking systems, test management tools, or similar platforms used to manage requirements, defects, and releases.
  • Experience supporting lender-facing applications, loan origination/acquisitions systems, workflow platforms, rules engines, or configurable SaaS applications.
  • Knowledge of mortgage, consumer lending, commercial lending, credit operations, underwriting, document management, or lender portal processes.
  • Experience with configuration version control, approval workflows, regression testing, audit documentation, and production release validation.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, ITIL, or formal change management practices.
  • Ability to lead working sessions, facilitate requirement reviews, and coordinate testing across multiple stakeholder groups.
