The Cyber Engineering Division Applies threat informed expertise in cyber security and information system engineering to enhance the security of the Nations cyber systems.
The Cyber Resiliency and Cross-Domain Solutions Department is the home of Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) technical capability area. This technical capability area provides a critical mass of CDS expertise to support MITRE sponsors across all of Government. Spend your days applying your diverse cyber security technical skills to a wide variety of complex and unique challenges that make a direct impact to our sponsor’s mission. You will be part of a team that tackles cyber security engineering challenges and delivers solutions. In this role, the candidate will provide hands on cyber security engineering analysis, and system integration crossing multiple areas, such as firewalls, networks, and IDS / IPS. Ours is a collaborative environment and you’ll work on multi-disciplinary teams.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Enterprise Cross Domain Services (ECDS) work is on site at NCE in Springfield, VA. The current focus is on monitoring, High Speed Guards, data diode usage, RtB compliance, AWS, and SME support. The support consists of providing research, empirical information, and recommendations to the ECDS Program Management Office (PMO) with regards to their CDS governance, risk assessment, CDS consolidation, and CDS monitoring at NCE.
We are seeking an experienced CDS Engineer to support our sponsor ECDS PMO.
ECDS is responsible for analyzing and approving engineering approaches and cross domain systems for the agency. In this role you will be required to:
- Support technical requirements outreach sessions with sponsor stakeholders to identify existing data sources, formats, and interfaces.
- Identify tools, frameworks, and methods to help integrate disparate structured and unstructured data sources across the sponsor’s work program.
- Engage with senior government staff including the agency Chief Information Security Officer on cross domain issues.
- Serve as a key member of the agency ECDS PMO.
- Represent the ECDS PMO in discussions with cross domain owners.
- Review cross domain solution designs and recommend approval, changes, etc.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Documented success working with cross domain solutions
- 2 years of experience working in government or industry in relevant work areas including DoD/IC Cross-Domain Systems and Requirements Processes.
- Understanding and experience in Mission Assurance and Supply Chain Risk Management.
- Basic understanding of the role of standards and how they are used to design and implement secure, resilient systems.
- Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, ICD-503, Raise the Bar and other US Government CDS guidance.
- Superior customer engagement and communication skills to be able to work seamlessly across MITRE, government, and contractor teams.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to succinctly capture salient issues and provide seniors with fact based, actionable, and relevant technical solutions.
- Experience collaborating and coordinating with Intelligence Community cross domain community.
- Must have an active Top Secret/SCI/ Polygraph U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
- This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in applicable cyber security related field
- CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or other cyber certification.
- Prior professional experience in the US Intelligence Risk Management.
- Hands on knowledge of CDS architecture, file filtering, data streaming, XML and JSON schemas.
- A working knowledge of Executive Order 14028, National Security Memo 8, Raise the Bar and all related publications from the National Cross Domain Strategy Management Office (NCDSMO).

$129,200 - $161,500 - $193,800 Annual
