This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Security Engineering based in the United States.

This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the security strategy for critical network infrastructure and drive impactful cybersecurity initiatives.You will lead a talented security engineering team while designing scalable solutions that protect complex technology environments.The position combines strategic vision, technical expertise, and hands-on leadership to strengthen security capabilities across the organization.You will leverage emerging technologies, including AI and automation, to solve challenging security problems and improve operational efficiency.Working closely with engineering and operations teams, you will embed security best practices into large-scale infrastructure initiatives.This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced security leader who enjoys innovation, team development, and building resilient systems.

Accountabilities: As the Head of Security Engineering, you will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for security initiatives while ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure. You will lead a team of security professionals, drive engineering excellence, and collaborate across the organization to strengthen security practices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the Security Engineering team while providing technical guidance and strategic vision.
  • Designing and implementing robust security architectures, controls, and solutions to protect core network infrastructure.
  • Driving the execution of security initiatives from planning through deployment and continuous improvement.
  • Leveraging AI, automation, and innovative approaches to improve security operations and solve complex technical challenges.
  • Partnering with engineering, operations, and cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices throughout the organization.
  • Establishing security standards, processes, and engineering practices that improve resilience and reduce risk.
  • Supporting a culture of proactive security ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluating emerging security technologies and identifying opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness.

Requirements:The ideal candidate is an experienced security engineering leader with a strong technical background, proven people management skills, and the ability to drive security strategy within complex environments. You should be comfortable balancing hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities and collaborating across multiple teams. Required qualifications and preferred experience include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in network security, cybersecurity engineering, or related security disciplines.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise security architectures and controls.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing and leading engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, infrastructure protection, and modern security engineering practices.
  • Ability to provide strategic direction while remaining technically engaged with complex security challenges.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence engineering and operational stakeholders.
  • Experience applying AI tools, automation, or innovative approaches to improve security processes is highly valued.
  • Industry-recognized security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
