Why this role matters:

We are seeking a Backend Engineer (Engineer III) for our Jumper AI / Conversational Commerce platform team to design and build backend systems that power a Journey Builder, a workflow orchestration engine used to model and execute complex, event-driven customer journeys. This role focuses on implementing advanced algorithms, orchestration logic, and distributed execution models that support branching, state management, retries, and long-running workflows. You will work on microservices built with Go (programming language) that coordinate events across multiple systems while meeting performance, reliability, and correctness requirements.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Design and implement backend services using Go (programming language) and modern Go API frameworks such as Gin, Echo, or Fiber within a distributed microservices architecture.
  • Build and operate core components of a Journey Builder/workflow orchestration platform.
  • Develop execution models for stateful, long-running workflows, including branching, retries, fan-out, joins, and recovery.
  • Design and implement routing, decision, and event-correlation algorithms with strong correctness and idempotency guarantees.
  • Build event-driven and asynchronous pipelines using systems such as Apache Kafka, Amazon Simple Queue Service, or Amazon Simple Notification Service.
  • Design and manage workflow state, execution history, and intermediate data using storage solutions such as PostgreSQL, Amazon DynamoDB, and Redis.
  • Own backend services end-to-end, including deployment, monitoring, on-call support, and production incident resolution on Amazon Web Services.
  • Embed AI assisted engineering into daily practice to accelerate delivery and enhance outcomes
  • Proactively adopt emerging AI capabilities to improve workflows and shares best practices with the team

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production-grade systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Golang and experience building REST APIs and microservices.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven design.
  • Experience building workflow engines, orchestration layers, rule engines, or state machines.
  • Hands-on experience with asynchronous processing, retries, deduplication, and failure recovery.
  • Strong data modeling skills using SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or Redis.
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and modern development practices, including CI/CD and containerization.

Experience we consider a plus:

  • Experience building customer journey orchestration, campaign automation, or messaging platforms.
  • Exposure to state machines, DAG execution engines, or workflow orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience designing high-scale, low-latency distributed systems and optimizing workflow execution performance.

How you’ll benefit:

  • Attractive Discretionary Time Off
  • Private Medical Insurance with optional dependent coverage
  • Educational Assistance Reimbursement Program
  • Opportunities for reimbursement for conferences, trainings, and other personal development events
  • Maternity and Paternity Leave
  • Ask recruiter for country specific information
