Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Reporting to: BUGM

Business Unit: Major Projects Scotland

Purpose of the Position:

The main purpose of this role is to plan, execute, and close projects ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will be the central coordinator, managing resources, risks, and team communication to achieve specific organisational goals and deliver value to stakeholders.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable delivery of Omexom High Voltage (HV) substation transmission projects for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSE) projects and other UK utility clients.

The role will be to lead projects from contract award through design coordination, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning and handover. The Project Manager will ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards while maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the growth of Omexom.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Including but not limited to the following:

· Establish clear project goals and objectives within an established timeframe.

· Efficiently allocate resources, control cost, and keep the project within budget.

· Identify, mitigate, and manage potential risks to minimise uncertainty and prevent issues.

· Create timelines and monitor progress to ensure deadlines are met.

· Lead, motivate, and mange the team while serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders.

· Ensure the final deliverables meet the required standards and client expectations.

· Effectively manage change throughout the project life cycle.

· Build strong and lasting relationships with stakeholder with the aim of securing future projects

Person Specification

Qualifications and experience

· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, or relevant experience.

· Understanding of the construction process involved in transmission substations

· Certifications to include Project Management Professional (APM), PRINCE2, or similar.

· Proven experience in planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects in an engineering sector

· Proven ability to manage budgets, allocate resources, and mitigate risks.

· Strong skills in communication, negotiation, and team motivation skills to lead your project.

· Experience using project management tools (eg. Jira, MS Project) and software packages.

Desirable criteria

· Previous experience working on SSE Framework projects.

· Knowledge of transmission projects at 132kV, 275kV and 400kV.

· SMSTS

· NEC Project Manager Accreditation or equivalent experience

· First Aid at Work

· Temporary Works Awareness
